Hello members,

I submitted my online citizenship application on February 20th and noticed that others who applied around the same time have already received their AORs and their website says they're now processing AORs for citizenship applications submitted on the week of Feb 21st.

I called IRCC and provided my UCI and receipt number, but they said they cannot find any record of my application. However, I did receive a submission confirmation email right after applying, and my online portal shows the following message:

Application(s) submitted!
This is not your acknowledgement of receipt (AOR)

An AOR confirms that we’ve started processing the application(s).

You’ll get your AOR

  • after all applications are submitted and
  • we check that they’re complete
Can someone who has been in a similar situation help me? They're telling me to wait a week before reapplying because they can see the receipt and confirm the payment was made. This is SO WEIRD. How can an online application 'get lost'???

It's odd, but your best bet would be to send a new application, use the same payment and add a letter of explanation and your current submission email as additional docs, so they don't get confused in case they retrieve the previous one, if they ever do.

This post is about a physical application which can understandably get lost. My spousal sponsorship application was lost in CPC-S for a year during the pandemic but I can't wrap my head around how IRCC can lose an 'online' application. I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Would there be any reason why they lose an application? The agent is telling me to wait for one week. I'm not sure if I should do that or just go ahead and reapply.

I would wait a week. There could easily be some database update issues or even something as simple as the call centre agent not having looked in the right place. IMO.

They have had a number of computer glitches over the years, see https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/search/37996859/?q=glitch&o=relevance

It's quite possible for an online application to be permanently lost because of another computer glitch.

Would agree to wait, as per https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/cic-has-no-record-of-receiving-my-citizenship-application.190079/post-2973691 they may suddenly find it in that timeframe. It's quite possible for an online application to be temporarily lost because of a computer glitch, only to reappear later.
