IRCC portal and GCkey, 14 to 30 business days ?

When I applied for my visa at the beginning of march 2022 on GCkey, I read that they will contact me within 14 to 30 days.

However on this forum, I read that IRCC new portal is faster. What do you think ? Can you share you experience with both portal for visitor visa ? Should I trust the 14 - 30 days delay or the check processing time on their cic site ?

From my experience I don’t trust the 14-30 days. Waiting since November 2021 for a “visit visa” to reunite with immediate family member.

I just hate myself. I think I should have applyed on the new portal because it has the option "Work without a permit" as a researcher. This would have implied less waiting time. Now I just have to wait for my visitor visa.
btw, the status "We do not need additional documents." does it mean that someone opened my application, saw the files and said we do not need anything. Or is it something automatic we get when we have uploaded everything ?

Asking for a family friend. He's a Canada PR want his mum visit him in Canada. The IRCC portal didn't generate a validation code for the mum to begin application. The mum is a fully vaccinated and coming as immediate family. Anyone with idea of what is happening?
