I'd like to invite my friend to get to Canada and stay here for 2 months in my place.
Do I need to make an invite letter for her to get a visitor visa?

Thank you

Hi Marklarry28,

This might help if your friend is not from a visa-exempt country:

Visiting Canada: Who is eligible
To visit Canada, you must:

•have a valid travel document, such as a passport
•be in good health
•satisfy an immigration officer that you have ties, such as a job, home and family, that will take you back to your country of origin
•satisfy an immigration officer that you will leave Canada at the end of your visit and
•have enough money for your stay. The amount of money you will need can vary with the circumstances of the visit, how long you will stay and whether you will stay in a hotel or with friends or relatives. For more information, ask the Canadian visa office in your country or region.
You may also need:

•a Temporary Resident Visa, depending on your citizenship (see Visas and Exemptions below)
•a medical examination and
•a letter of invitation from someone who lives in Canada.

If you need additional support while visiting Canada then a notarized invitation with undertaking (support for your needs, return fare back to your country of origin, etc) would be needed. The lawyer/notary would know what to put on the notarized invitation.

Hi:

I'm a Canadian living in China with my Chinese wife.

If we wanted to visit Canada, are you sdaying I would have to get my brother (living in Canada) to write a letter of invitation? I read the application guide and did not see this requirement. Maybe you could guide me to it?

If so, any suggestions as to what the letter should say? Offering to cover my wife's expenses would be inappropriate; I have enough money. Offering to put us up would not make sense if we plan to visit for (say) 2-3 months; we'd want our own short-term lodgings.

Thanks

In your case, I don't think you need any invitation for your wife. Do you have a sponsorship in progress for her?
