Hi there,
I am a PR, and my brother requested me to send him an invitation letter to visit Canada where the letter that I am signing and sending him says that he will be staying in Canada only for one month. However, I am pretty sure that he, and his family, will stay longer and apply for refugee. Does that make me any guilty or responsible for his stay? Because I want to have a clean record always.

Appreciate your help
thanks

It does not make you financially responsible for him.

However if you plan on inviting any other family members to visit in the future (e.g. your parents), this may make it difficult for them to be approved.

thank you for your answer. Despite the finance, am I going to be anyhow responsible for his actions in front of the government? Also, is this going to affect sponsoring even a spouse in the future?

thanks again

Shouldn't effect sponsoring a spouse but it will likely create issues for others friends and family. If they claim asylum it will be assumed that any other family or friend may also claim asylum. As mentioned before it may make it difficult for other siblings or parents visit.
