Hello everyone! I have a question regarding my child's first language. I'm from India and my child is US born. Now, is her first language English or Native Indian language? And, there's another question asking if my child can communicate in english. She's 4 months old and not ready to speak yet. I don't know what to answer.

Stop providing wrong information. It doesn't matter what his relation is the OP's half brother. He is NOT A FAMILY MEMBER OF OP.
What makes you feel you're not the one providing wrong information? The fact of the matter remains the step father is the step brother's parent. Nothing you say can change that. Furthermore the applicant loses nothing by including this detail in his application, cheers.

I concur. Having gone through this with having half siblings and having children from a previous marriage, I had to disclose information about my half siblings and my children's step sister but nothing at all about either my step mother or my children's step mom. They are not considered immediate family.

Your child's first language is what you speak at home. I would suggest you put down your native language. With such a young baby it really doesn't matter. Your baby's first language will be the same as yours.

Hi Everyone,

I received an ITA from today's draw and am completing my online application. Under the family section, we have to provide additional information on family members:

Please tell us about x's immediate family members that have not been identified in the application.

This includes any parent, any spouse or common-law partner, any child including adult children, and any brothers or sisters. If the relative is deceased, provide the date of death.
• Check the list at the bottom of the form first to see information you have already saved.
• When you click "Save and Add", each relative's details will be saved to the list.
• The fields will go blank to let you add details about another relative.
• Use the modify or delete button if you want to change details that you have already saved to the list.

In the drop down menu there is the option of half brother and half sister (as well as step mother). I have half-siblings and therefore a step-mother but I am not really in touch with them. Do I have to disclose them as family members?

At the end of the section there is the following question: Have you told us about all of Rifka Chamali's relatives? (if I don't select "Yes" I cannot save and continue)

Does anyone have experience with this? Should i add their details? Do I add my half siblings only or also stepmother? I would rather add my immediate family only (i.e mother father and brother), but am unsure of what CIC requires. Kindly advise!

Thanks in advance!

Pls on this section should my accompanying spouse add our children already listed on my application as accompanying Dependants and me her husband (the principal applicant) to this section .
pls help am confused.

Say your biological parents were divorcees before they got married to each other. After they married, they had you, their biological son. Now, they are divorced again and married someone else. Now let us look at the relationship between you and your biological mother's spouses and future children.

Your biological mother's husband from her previous marriage is not a family member to you.
Your biological mother's biological child from her previous marriage is half-sibling to you.
Your biological mother's future husband becomes your step-dad.
Your step-dad's wife from his previous marriage is not a family member to you.
Your step-dad's children from his previous marriage become your step-siblings once he marries your biological mother
Your biological mother becomes step-mom to your step-siblings once she marries their biological father.
The biological child of your biological mother and step-dad will be your half-sibling.
Your biological father's future wife becomes your step-mom.
Your biological father's wife from his previous marriage is not a family member to you.

Hi,

In my application i had forgotten to add my sister, since she has long been married and I thought she would get listed in her husband's family after marriage. I am a Canadian PR since 6 months now. Is there any way I can add her in my family member list?

Your explanation for "forgetting" to add her makes no sense. Even in cultures where a woman joins her husband's family, she does not cease to be a member of her blood family. No, you cannot add her to your family member list and if you inform IRCC, you would be admitting to misrepresentation.

I am trying to understand the main purpose of listing all the immediate family members.

1. Is it due to the possibility of sponsoring them in future once the applicant moves to Canada? Or to perform security checks?!

2. What is the impact if someone doesn’t list them all (like half brothers/half sisters,,etc)? Other than you can not sponsor them?!

3. If somebody has half brother who hasn’t seen him ever and has no clue if he still alive or not. / no contact, does it really matter mentioning him or her?!
