Hello,
Would like to share a bit background of mine. I am a Permanent Resident of Canada living in New Brunswick. Recently I sponsored my wife and applied for her PR (in Aug 2018). The file is under process and once approved, I am planning to sponsor my parents as well (maybe next year Aug 2019).
One of my friends is planning to visit Canada on "Visitors Visa" with her family. She is asking me to write an "Invitation Letter" for herself, her husband and their daughter (total 3 members). Note that they will take care of their own expenses (like flights, food, transportations, hotel, medical insurance, etc.).
My question is: If I write this invitation letter for her, will it affect towards my wife's PR application? Also, will there be any consequences/inquiry when I sponsor my parents next year? I don't want to put my family's future applications in jeopardy just because I gave the invitation letter to my friend.
Please advise. Thanks.

By sponsoring your parents, I assume you mean either get lucky in the PGP lottery or else apply for their super visas.

As visitors, your friend and her family must prove they can afford their visit from start to finish without depending on you. That said, if they intend to stay in hotels then there's no value addition if you provide an invitation letter. They can apply as general tourists.

If you provide an invitation letter, what would be the extent of your support?

Another point: As their host (if you provide an invitation letter), it is not mandatory to provide any financial document to support their visit.

So, as you are not *sponsoring* your friend/her family, your invitation letter will not affect the PR application of your wife and/or sponsorship of your parents
