Hello,

This query is for my friend. He is in a company in India where in he is offered a role by his manager in Canada (in the same company). However, when he raised his visa and work permit, the visa cell guys in his company refused to file his visa stating that CIC only accepts people with more than 5 years of experience. He only has 3 years of experience. I checked some sites, and in one CIC site, it was mentioned that they required only 1 year experience but a lot of specialized knowledge.

Is it true? Do the CIC only accept visas for ICT for people with more than 5 years experience as per my friend's company visa guy?

Please help !

CIC requires a minimum of one year of work experience - but this doesn't mean that someone with one year of experience is automatically approved. Approval of an ICT visa requires specialized knowledge and it's quite possible someone with 3 years of work experience won't even qualify from CIC's perspective.

Ultimately it's his company's choice (not his choice) whether they apply for the ICT or not. They may have past experiences with ICT visa refusals.

Thanks for the reply guys!
He does have niche proprietary skills. Negotiations between his manager and visa cell people are going on. Lets see what transpires.
