Should me and my partner decide to apply for my PR and we choose the OUTLand route and we require interview, who gets to be interviewed, the applicant (ME) or the sponsor (her)?

or both?

I would have to mail my application to Vienna, so if interview is necessary, we would have to fly to Vienna. Too expensive for 2 people ???

Usually just the applicant.

However in general, the chance for an interview is incredibly small, unless you have some big red flags or suspicious things in your application that would cause an officer to doubt your relationship is real.

From what I have heard it also depends on where you are applying from. We are applying from Mexico and it appears that most applicant's from here are called for interviews. I think that although maybe not officialy a policy, more people from non visa exempt countries are called for interviews than people from visa exempt countries (U.S.A., England) etc.

Well, I have a feeling I will be called for interview primarily because of our age difference. One of us is almost half the age of the other. To be honest, I am not worried of the interview because I know in my heart we have a genuine relationship, age shouldn't be an issue at all. I will speak from my heart during the interview that I love this person with all my heart etc etc.

My only worry is that in the event we are both called for interview, my partner needs enough time to ask for a leave. 2 months, 3 months in advance maybe. And of course, so expensive tickets :(

In practically all cases just the applicant needs to attend any interview at visa office.

Well...there's always the Inland route, as it wouldn't require either of you to go anywhere IF there ever was an interview.

So...do you want to focus your energy on a faster processing time...or, a closer Visa office to go to IF you get called for an interview? ;)

True. But with what I've been reading here it seems that outland is the fastest.
But yeah, that's something I have to reconsider - faster processing OR closer visa office.

The only thing I don't like about inland application, is it can take up to 3 years, if you need an interview ???

What is your outland visa office? You are most likely better off with outland. It is the applicant that will need to be interviewed if an interview is requested. Ive heard of sponsors who went to the interview abd werent even allowed into the interview. The vo never laid eyes on them. I wouldn't worry about the sponsor getting requested for the interview.

Vienna.
They're also having longer processing time issue there.

If I take the inland route, I may even be able to include an open work permit request after the initial approval stage has been approved? Not sure about this though.

Yes you can, but you do realize that inland first stage approval is around 12 months, right? That is when the work permit would be approved. You're far better off doing Outland with a visa office like Vienna

Yes they can, but a lot of the time they don't talk to the sponsor. But it doesn't hurt to let the vo know they're there.

Even if the sponsor is invited to attend the interview and actually get interviewed, it can be a double edged sword, because due to nervousness, both parties might end up giving different answers to same questions, resulting in a refusal.

You can apply through Ottawa as well if you are a temporary resident (work/study permit) in Canada. I applied through Vienna because I didn't know that I could have applied through Ottawa. It took exactly 12 months for my COPR but most of the people at the Vienna VO are waiting even longer right now
