International Student marrying Canadian

Hi All!

I am an international student and will be marrying a Canadian Citizen. our immigration lawyer said that we will be applying for the open work permit while waiting for the PR result. My question is, based on the CIC website OWP holder cannot study. But I would like to continue my study. Would that be possible?

No. If you want to continue studying, you can't change to an OWP.

Can you apply for an OWP as a spouse of a Canadian citizen? I think your Canadian spouse can only sponsor you for permanent residency. If you want OWP, you should be qualified for it yourself. Am I correct?

A person can apply for an OWP with an inland PR app.

Yup that is what the immigration lawyer told me.
I guess I just have to wait for the PR to continue my school.
