International Driver's license valid for how long after becoming a permanent res

Hello Everyone

I became a permanent resident end of December, I have an international driving license, I have heard i can use it in my first 3 months here in Canada after that i must get a canadian driving license...any help on confirming this information or where to look for it is much appreciated.
