It's NEVER as issue of whether or not a person can leave, because they can. The ISSUE is if they are allowed to re-enter Canada, because if they are DENIED, it kills the Inland application.

I do not know what country you are from and I know people say you should never leave Canada while going through the inland process. I am from the USA here as a visitor while my application is processed. Many people say I should have applied outland but we didn't. Anyway. I did leave Canada for a few days. When I left I took with my copies of the entire application plus my visitors extension showing I am allowed here until next April, in case I needed them. I let the Border guards know I was in the process of becoming a permanent resident they asked me for my passport and reminded me when my visitor extension would expiry and let me in, no other questions asked. I was worried after reading so much on this forum that I would not be allowed back in and that it would cancel out my application if I was not allowed back in. But it all turned out fine for me. I think it is advisable not to leave the country and for good reason but depending on what country you are from it may not be a problem if you really feel you need to leave. I know most people would not agree with me so please listen to others advise more than mine.

Not sure what to tell you since I am a US citizen not a g card holder. I think it might be unwise at the very least, since you do not hold a US passport.

personally, I think there is always a chance that one may be denial entry back to Canada.
My husband is from a Visa exempt country. But we didn't want to take the risk and thus stayed in until he got his AIP and OWP before he took any road trip down to US. And no flight until he got his PR card.
