Inland vs Outland

Hi guys, I'm sure this has been asked before, but I was wondering if anyone could give me a quick run down on the advantages / disadvantages of each?

So far, from what I've read, outland is the way to go regardless if your spouse is living with you or not as it's much quicker. Also, if your spouse has to leave Canada for any reason it's still valid. So, are there any drawbacks?

Thanks!

read the first post by Leon, spousal sponsorship. First page only, not the whole thread, it will give you all the info you need. Mostly, it depends on where you're from.

The one thing about outland, is if you're called for an interview you will need to return to your country for it. You can't do it in Canada.

Thanks guys. So helpful.

Re: Interview, yeah that's okay though. I'll work with my wife to get her a ticket. I assume she has to fly wherever it is? So even though she's from Cali the interview could be in NY?

P.S. The cic website is so confusing and hard to use.

Also if someone has doubt that their application may get denied then they should go for Outland. Because outland gives you right of appeal after rejection whereas inland doesn't.

She would fly to her VO - wherever that is. For US applicants it's a bit unclear whether it would be Ottawa, or one of the satellite offices. And there is no way to really know in advance...

More likely L. A.

Keep in mind, if you're a USA-Canada couple, your processing time can be as short as 3 months. Yes, really. The fastest case we know of was 142 days and it went through L. A. My own application was done in 6.5 months versus the 13 published on CIC's website.

If you are doing an inland application in Canada and staying on a visitors visa will they still call me back to an interview in the states?

There USUALLY is not an interview on an inland application, however, if there is one, it would be in Canada because you are using only offices in Canada for inland application. If that makes any sense to you at all ....
