I would have to agree with KC on this one. If I've learned anything these past couple of years is that it is better to be safe than sorry. I was basically told by a border guard that my application for visitor status extension would NOT be denied (Like I literally asked this guy if I forgot to dot an i or cross a t and he said, it will be approved over and over). The OWP however, imo, is such a grey area. They really aren't supposed to deny them but if there aren't enough proofs or something isn't signed (which is very, very easy to do) and it gets returned, then he will be out of status. The visitor extension is a pretty easy application and to be honest, for $100, at least you have the peace of mind knowing that he has status.....I figure $100 is nothing compared to all of the other costs we have incurred going through this process LOL!
