Okay, so when you went into CBSA with the AIP, they said they'll wait until you guys get the final decision from the sponsorship, is that what you meant? Sorry, you kept writing 'audience' and I don't quite understand if it's a typo on your part, but I don't know what 'audience' means in immigration terms.
No. When you are a refugee claimant you have an audience with IRCC that determines whether or not you are eligible for PR as a refugee. Basically if your case convinces the court.

Think you mean a hearing but if you get protected person status and don’t commit a crime you are automatically eligible for PR. Also refugee is approved outside Canada and already has status in Canada when they arrive while an asylum claimant has no status but has their deportation put on hold while waiting for their hearing.
