Hi everyone, most of you are really helpful and fairly knowledgeable. I've got some questions regarding my application so I thought that I'd post them here.

1) No Option C: The Document Checklist states that my wife, the sponsor, needs to provide an Option C printout which is the result of a tax return. Because my wife is a student (as am I) she has never filed a tax return. I don't want to wait till my wife files her tax return and receives her notice of assessment to submit my application as it seems like that would just be an unnecessary delay. Is there any way around providing it?

Why do we even need an option c? I'm pretty sure there are no income requirements since we don't have any dependents.

2) OWP: From what I've gathered it is a good idea to submit the OWP application along with my PR application but with a note indicating for its processing to start after my wife has been approved as a sponsor. However, I can't figure out which form to use for the application. Would anyone happen to know?

3) Upfront Medical Exam: What is the benefit does doing it beforehand? Would it delay my wife's approval or mine?

4) Proof of Canadian Citizenship: Are the first two pages of my wife's canadian passport good enough? It doesn't have her place of birth written.

5) Relationship Proofs: My wife and I have provided our marriage certificate and a lot of photos of us going out together on dates as proof that our relationship is legitimate. Is this enough? Some of the pictures have other members of our family but not most of them. We also have some travel bookings we made together, would it be a good idea to include those?

Please respond if you know about any of these. Thanks a lot :).

I don't have all the answers but can guide you to some information.

1. In place of Option C you can submit copies of saving accounts/family financial support letters and explanation that your spouse is a student and has not filed taxes. Although on a side note, your spouse should file taxes even when not working, most likely she would be getting a refund for certain credits students get.

As for income requirements, although your spouse does not have to meet LICO, she needs to demonstrate to CIC that you are able to support yourself financially and that you will not end up on social assistance. Additionally if they approve her as sponsor they can still refuse you as applicant on financial grounds.

The VO can refuse on financial grounds. IRPA provides that a foreign national may be inadmissible for not complying with certain obligations:

39. Financial reasons - A foreign national is inadmissible for financial reasons if they are or will be unable or unwilling to support themself or any other person who is dependent on them, and have not satisfied an officer that adequate arrangements for care and support, other than those that involve social assistance, have been made.

2. I do not think you are able to submit those together anymore. Inland and Outland spousal applications now get sent to CPP-Miss and the OWP instructions still request that the applications for OWP be sent to CPP-Vergeville (this changed in January 2014), so not really sure what is happening with this.

3. Inland Applications. I would not do upfront medicals, they will expire and you will need to redo them closer to decision date. Best to wait for the request.

4. I submitted my Canadian Passport, but it did have my place of birth, so not sure why your wife's passport doesnt. Does she have a canadian birth certificate?

5. List of my proof we included are listed below, you will of course have other ones being inland and living with your spouse.

Marriage contract (religious), civil marriage certificate.

Pictures from Dec 2011 - Present (including pictures from my engagement ceremony, wedding reception, trips, at home with family)
(around 100 pics combined)

My husband lives abroad, so I included all copies of trips (boarding passes, passport stamps, hotels receipts, restaurant receipts), I travel approx. every 2 or 3 months for a month to stay with my husband.

Wedding cards (from family, friends and my work), copies of all best wedding wishes etc, copies of gift cards (Winners, HomeSense, The Bay) from my company signed for by the president and CEO addressed to both me and my husband.

My employer announcement to all employees of my change of name, providing my new e-mail address particulars.

CRA change of status from single to married.

Phone records (mine and my husband's)

Skype chats. Facebook (just print screen showing 21,000+ messages), and comments from family and friends.

I did not write a love novel, I just feel those are tacky and if I was a visa officer I would be skeptical reading someone declaring love to my spouse and swearing that it is true love etc... This is just a personal opinion.

Hopefully someone more experienced in Inland can walk you through the process.
