Perhaps a ridiculous question. If we sent my wife's PR and OWP application together in January what would the "average" wait time be for the OWP portion to get processed?
My assumption is that it would be issued well before the PR application is processed. Any ideas? Thank you.

The OWP wait time is totally dependent on the timing of 1st stage approval. The OWP will not be issued until 1st stage is done depending on current timeline of about 8 months wait.

Not ridiculous at all, but impossible to provide an accurate guess.

Did you write in bold letters (by hand) across the top of the form [IMM5710]:
OWP SUBMITTED WITH IN-CANADA SPOUSAL SPONSORSHIP APPLICATION. PROCESS AFTER AIP
(or something similar)?

The OWP cannot be processed before you have reached AIP (stage 1 approval), so unless you alerted CIC NOT to immediately process the OWP, it will likely be denied. Your AIP is required before she is deemed eligible for the OWP. No AIP, no OWP.

IF...they figure it out on their own and wait until you have AIP, to process the OWP, you should have it by October-November-ish...maybe?!?!?

Of course, if your wife was/is out of status, that date could be pushed out as I've read that OWP's for an out of status applicant aren't much of a priority.
Perhaps it's a form of punishment?
