So I met, and married my husband eight years ago, At that time he made the choice to move, and immigrate here to the US. We have now decided that we no longer want to stay here. We have chosen to file out land, He is now back in Canada, with job and apartment. I am currently waiting on mt fingerprints and FBI check to come back. I will then schedule my medical. We have all the paperwork filled out and ready to send, just need pictures and FBI,and medical. Now question is can i go to Canada as a "visitor", and stay there with him while i await my application to be approved?(out-land)...I realize they want proof that i have a residence here in the states,(thats highly unlikely) because i cannot maintain rent here (in US) while I'm in Canada because i will not be able to work. So what r my options ? I wont be taking anything across with me but the clothes on my back,...(and my dogs,....cannot leave them for 6 months)...Will this look too suspicious? and once I'm there i kinda plan to stay, hopefully on an extension....I can prove residency, i just don't plan on returning. Need some feedback thanks in advance ;D.
Or is In-land faster?,....it doesn't matter to me really its just that i wouldn't have ant insurance while i am there, thats a scary issue. So what would be our best course of action?????

Hi!

See this thread for some information as someone just asked a very similar question: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/canadianamerican-marriage-t67909.0.html

I also responded there. Outland is much faster than inland for americans. Also, see my past posts as I have posted information on staying in Canada while you wait for your outland application to be processed.

Good luck!

It is possible to visit while an app' is in process, there are risks.

Proving residency is not the only issue, you have to show that you will leave Canada when your visit is complete.
Traveling with "only the clothes on your back" can also raise flags, certainly if you get sent to secondary screening.

Your dogs are likely to say "moving" to the IO, getting refused is not going to help at all.
You may be better off visiting once in a while, instead of attempting to stay.

Inland is slower in many cases.

Insurance isn't mandatory, but IMO you would be crazy to travel and stay without it.
Medical treatment can be very expensive without medical cover.

You need to have a plan B - what will you do if you cannot move, or are refused entry?
