That is really strange, I've never heard of this issue, I would hope a more senior member could help you out here.
If not I would try calling CIC. that would probably be your best bet.
From what I've seen on the forum the ones that start like that are just temporary file numbers and it wont let you access your file until you have a permanent file number which will not have the X in front of it.

exactly. an X indicates it's a "temporary" file number. it will most likely end up being the offical file number (without the x) once the application starts processing. I believe temp #s are initially assigned when the file is opened and it's waiting to be processed. it does not suggest anything is wrong with the file. it's just part of how CIC works.

Hi i have same situation here. I resent my app in sep 2014, the first app was returned due to not updated firm. My file number starts with XF. And I still can not log on ECAS now. How is your situation now? Can you log in ECAS? Please let me know. Thx a lot
