BGC and eligibility are separate. A lot of people don’t hear about eligibility until after BGC it seems. Usually they start BGC before deciding on eligibility. My eligibility started months ago and is still pending; my BGC just started a week ago.
What is your timeline?

Application received mid-August, medical request mid-November with medical passed late November. Then absolutely nothing until a late-February notice that “we started working on the application” (this is when it finally got opened at Montreal, it was sent end of January and just sat there for a month I guess.)

Then it sat untouched again until SA in mid-April.

Then nothing again until BGC started last week.
What is your timeline?

it is frustrating not to get any update or to feel that somebody is sitting on your application or using it to fix a wobbly desk or something.

I called the automated number and it says that if your application was mailed or received after Sunday July 8 then the process hasn’t started yet. This makes me wonder if some officers are waiting for this date to hit the one your app was received to trigger the rest of the steps. Maybe we are the lucky ones dealing with robocops who are going by the book and by the 1 year mark or something.

I kinda lost all hope that my application will be finalized before August at this point guys..

Just checked ECAS and saw Decision made PA side. Already had DM on Sponsor side since mid March. I don't need to wait for interview right? I can leave the country and come back in and let them know that I want to do the PR interview?

You should wait until your landed/interview before you leave.

Congrats! Have you received a letter yet or was it just DM on ecas? And are you in status? I would personally wait for the letter before leaving.

No letter. We have an Open work permit so we have that.

You can technically leave whenever you want. There's always a small 'risk' of being denied entry which is why some prefer to just wait until they have finished the process.
That makes sense. Since submitting the application, we've left the country 3 times and reentered with no issues.

Heads up - unless you are an American citizen, you cannot travel back to the country by commercial transport (i.e. airplane, train, boat) after your interview if you do not have your PR card. You can only travel back in to the country at a land crossing by personal vehicle. If you need to travel, I would recommend doing it before your interview, but ensure that you have all of the proper documents to get back into the country.

Hello. I see they requested additional documents in March. If you don't mind me asking, what additional documents did they request? I am asking since I am also US to Canada.

They requested a marriage certificate from a specific place. But that place stopped issuing marriage certificates some years back. So I sent them my marriage certificate (which was originally sent with the application) along with the website that said they didn't issue marriage certificates anymore. But the document was used for the SA and not for the PA.
