Inland applications backlogged

Hey folks,

Our inland Family Class application has been in for about six months now at the Vag Center. That's about what the average waiting time is supposed to be, but the date of 'currently processing' applications on the CIC web site had remained set to October 8 for a long time - ever since April! So I had assumed it was some sort of mistake, or the web site was not being updated. But a few days ago the date moved - by four days.

So we called today and what the lady on the phone said was that it's correct. They just took that long, she said, because they are backlogged. Nothing they can do. Lots of people are in our situation.

If it takes them a month to process enough applications to move one day up the queue ... Is this right? Does anyone else have any ideas about it?

I would recommend you join the following thread:

I believe first stage approval is currently taking around 9-10 months to complete.

By moving it 4 days that's completely unacceptable.

I think most of us were expecting it to be moved to sometime this YEAR.

This means they still have all of the Hundreds of applications still to do from October as well as the thousands of In-Land applications which have been sent in since October which they have to work on.

This is causing family's to wait Extremely long periods of time as well as people waiting for a Work Permit to continue to work in Canada.

Its Ruining Peoples lives and I don't know why its taking so LONG for them to process.

When I talked to an agent of CIC a few weeks ago, he told me that sometimes they stop working on a type of application to concentrate their effort on an other type of application. So they probably stop working on inland sponsorship step 1 since April. Then, just before they updated the waiting time this week, they just got back working on our files. In other words, they stoped working on the files completely since april and during the last week, they made 4 days of files.

If this is the truth, we will see if they catch up the blacklogged and how fast they can do it.

Let's hope!

I don't see how even that's possible if the marker moves 4 days since April, you know? It's not 3-4 extra months I'm upset about (although it hurts - I can't remain unemployable forever) but the fact there's no actual realistic expectation of how long this might take.

For all we know at the end of the year they won't be doing past November 2012 yet. Then what?

They could simply HIRE more people to process these applications.

To be honest its the people applying from the Poor/3rd world countries which are slowing everyone applications down.

My application is as straight forward, mostly probably one of the easiest applications anyone could process, yet mine has to be put on hold while they process someone coming from Africa/Brazil etc...

They need to sort out their processes.

Well, and the applications *cost* so much money. Just to apply, even without the medical tests, it's a fair bit of cash for every single case. Surely they can fund the department better to handle the workload?

This is what I heard from an agent a few days ago :

Yes,the date on the website is correct BUT she told me that they can only change the date when a decision is made on ALL,every single one, of the applications received before the date they are stating.
So lets say VO A is a slow worker or he is missing a lot of papers so he is still working on an application received in october 2012 but VO B is actually working on an appl. received in February 2013 they can still not change the date on the website because of the slow VO A. So just because SOME of the VOs are still working on october '12 applications doesnt mean that all the other ones arent working on newer appl.

Well, I am going to quote the email I received yesterday for my MP.

"The application was received on November 08, 2012. The file remains in cue for review with the CIC Case Processing Centre in Vegreville, AB. CPC Vegreville is currently working on applications received one month prior to your date. My contact offered the following as explanation for the reported moment of applications. Sometimes in this quarter of the year it is not uncommon for manpower to be diverted for other purposes. For example, there tends to be a spike in categories such as renewal applications for Temporary Resident Visas for workers and students."

Not what we really want to hear but there we go. So yeah, family class gets pushed aside so they can process other types... Lovely.

I sincerely hope they speed it up as soon as they can. Knowing we still have months ahead of us is almost a sickening feeling. Money is tight already!

I know that feeling, if we didnt have land, I'm not sure how we would eat.
I am terrible with money so I'm glad my boyfriend can at least budge it out perfectly. But it's cheap living for sure, no fancy stuff. And it's hard to eat healthy with not a whole lot in the wallet.

Wow! Entitled much? I can believe you think these things, but I find it rather unbelievable that you share them freely on an IMMIGRATION forum. I'm American (and we're known to be entitled, elitist sh*theads), and this shocked me.

Yeah it's a bit ruthless to do.
