When you wife is granted permanent residency, there is no need for a work permit anymore, she is allowed to work automatically. I applied in Sep 2014 and have become a PR about 2 months ago. I think, you should be already close to getting residency, so no need to apply for WP now.

Thanks for the reply. Just confirming what you know - it took you 16 months yet the timeline on CIC says 24 for some reason but, when issued it comes with the OWP anyhow so we'd be wasting a couple hundred $ for something that we automatically get anyhow correct?

As well, something that has me jittery is that since December of 2014 nothing on our CIC update other than they received her application, nothing about me, her sponsor being approved, anything requested or received etc. Was it like that with you?

I'm from Costa Rica. My wife and I sent the complete application package for Inland Spousal Sponsorship back in december and it was received on December 17th. My wife got the AOR on January 25 and Ecas on Jan. 26. I still haven't received anything on my email and we are still waiting for the OWP. I called CIC and according to them, I don't know how, they apparently received everything on the 10th. So the agent ended up sending an email to see what is going on with the OWP. Is this normal? Going through this is so tough! Not being able to provide is killing us. What should I expect from that phone call to CIC? Will they expedite it?

Pretty much...As I mentioned, I landed in February, already have my Pr card, but on my sponsor's side it is still "in process". However, I received SA after around a year+request for additional documents.

Anyways, you can order your GCSM notes just to have a look if there was any movement on your file. But I really feel that you might get DM even before those notes will be delivered to you.

I sent my passport for renewal to BLS india last month and I was hoping that it will be renewed within a month or so. For passport renewal they asked me to get clearance from IRB as my work permit type is 27 (Immigration and Refugee board, I am not a refugee). Now my passport renewal will take more time and my Work permit will expire before my passport renews. I have recieved my Application no. from CIC though.

Please suggest What should i do. what is the best option for me and can I legally stay in canada when my WP expires? Please advice.

Same here. December 2014 applicant. Nothing has ever changed on the website. My wife got approved as sponsor via email. Now two weeks ago my status changed to DECISION MADE, but so far no other info. No letter, no email. (Im)pateintly waiting ???

Email, which, when it comes to CIC, is really the same as snail mail, right?!

You're now the second person (that I know of here) that has been given a landing interview/appointment with having ever had a medical.
