I was also wondering whether the 4 months mean 4 months from when the app was delivered to them or 4 months from AOR. Because in the second case it would mean more like 9 months with AOR taking so long.

Anyone knows?

nope, nobody knows for sure and we won't know until the first batch of applicants receive owp.

even though you received the owp through the pilot program, your timeline is not what we are talking about. Since the pilot program technically started for Dec 22 applicants, we are waiting to see when THOSE applicants (and after) who sent in the OWP application WITH their PR application (or however they were instructed to send it) receive the owp.

owp permits were issued for many applicants from before the dec 22 date. again, those are not the applicants that count toward the "processing time" for the pilot program owp. four months from dec 22 is march 22. so either those who applied on dec 22 and after will start getting owp soon or they wont.

Hi Everyone'

I have been in Canada since March 2014 on a work permit. I recently got married in feb 2015 and my wife and i are preparing our application for my PR and OWP but i am a bit worried as to whether i'm on the right track or not so im gonna state my concerns here hoping i can get some good responds.

We want to be together while the application process so we decide on applying inland.

I want to send off my application before my status expires in March (this month) but i apply for my marriage certificate and not yet received it. What should i do?

I am also thinking if i should use a lawyer, so can anyone tell me if my current situation would require getting a lawyer?

1. you can still apply OUTLAND even if you are living in canada on a work permit. if you have a current valid work permit, then there is absolutely no reason to be applying inland, especially if you happen to be visa exempt. if that is the only reason why you are applying inland, then i would highly recommend reconsidering. most outland visa offices approve applicants in 6-12 months. most are approved within 8-10. can you even apply for an OWP when you currently have a valid one? i would recommend double checking that. also, it's still not guaranteed that new applicants will receive the OWP in 4 months from when your application was SUBMITTED.
2. the marriage certificate is a REQUIRED document, and must be submitted upfront. not submitting the marriage certificate upfront risks delays in processing, even getting your application returned. it is not the same as not submitting your medical or pcc upfront.
3. if you don't have any criminal or dependant issues, then there is no need to waste money on an attorney. many give out wrong advice, and all they are really there for is to "double check" your paperwork. if you are a competent human being, then there is no need to pay someone to "check" your application.

Just a little addition to the second point: Actually, there was someone from the forum who didn't send the marriage certificate, just other things (marriage licence and some unofficial paper from the wedding). They were asked to send the certificate when they should have gotten AIP, but if you send it as soon as you get AOR I think you should be fine. This doesn't apply if you apply outland, as that's a much faster process, CIC needs your certificate immediately.
I fully agree with the rest.

Inland spousal applicants may be interested in listening to this 20-minute interview broadcast on CBC's "The Current" on Monday, March 2. Those who are frustrated by the increasingly longer waiting times are not alone. And as most of us already know, the Call Centre is really not very helpful. First stage approval is now taking 17 months, and not long ago it was 11 months. As usual, CIC was "not available for comment." However, in the last few minutes of the interview a former manager at CIC provides some frank criticism of CIC that is well worth listening to. Among other things, he challenges CIC's claim that they have already issued 4,000 OWP's under the new policy which only came into effect in late December.

My favorite part is where the former CIC manager basically confirms that:
The call center is useless.
There is no transparency.
What they do should not take more than 6 months.
They simply don't care to improve.

I have questions, after receiving confirmation from the CIC that they have received the spousal inland application on Dec 22, 2014 when you will be able to receive the AOR? We received the email from CIC on Feb 27

Another one is when we applied for spousal on Dec 22 we forgot to include the OWP application. So we have sent in a separate application the OWP to vegreville and attached all the documents from Spousal application on Dec 31. Are they will be able to track that we have sent our spousal application without the AOR?

regards

he's assuming the only owp applications approved under the pilot program are for applicants who applied on or after dec. 22 (suggesting that march 22 is really when owp should start being approved). we all know from this forum, there are many applicants from before that date who were issued owp through this program. it doesn't sound like he is aware of this, or is purposely not mentioning that fact. so it is very likely 4000 owp have been issued. we don't know how many applicants there really are, and not everyone is on this forum.

The confirmation IS the AOR. It's just a very simple email with something like "This confirms that your application to Sponsor a Member of the Family Class has been received by Citizenship and Immigration Canada...". Only useful information is the exact date your app was received, your file number, and either the sponsor's or the applicant's UCI.
Hopefully they will be able to connect your OWP app to your PR app. I added your data to the spreadsheet, this way we can track the process of issuing post-Dec22 OWPs.

So that is the AOR? with Application: Fxxxxxxxxxxxxx

They also inform that we will receive further correspondence once your application is under review by an agent.

Are we able to check that in Ecas?

Thank you sophie

Yes, that's the AOR! You can try to check it on eCAS, but sometimes a couple days (or weeks) needs to pass before you will be able to log in.

Thank you so much Sophiee!

so i am at the stage of paying the spouse sponsorship fees. YAY!
however I do not find very clear how much I need to pay:
Principal applicant (including $75 for sponsorship) $550.00 -That's me!
Spouse, common-law partner or conjugal partner $550.00- Who is that? my husband is Canadian and sponsoring me, so it does not apply to him right?
Family member of the principal applicant who is under 19 years of age, unmarried and not in a common-law relationship OR is 19 years of age or older who has been unable to be financially self-supporting since before the age of 19 due to a physical or mental condition $150.00 -OK this is N/A for me
Right of Permanent Residence Fee $490.00 that's me again

so my calculation is 1040 CAD (550+490) for the sponsorship. We do not need to pay any additional fees on the top of it, is that correct?
I just do not want to mess up in the finish line:)

thanks so much in advance for your response!!
