3 days left for Landing Interview. Seems like November 2015 all over again when I first submitted my application, checking canada post to see "delivery status" and waiting patiently for the AOR that took almost eternity.

This is indeed a long long wait and hard to comprehend what most of us go through. The wait for me and some of you might be coming to an end but there are others who are just starting their journey I hope the process becomes faster, more transparent, easier and less testing. Our journey was not so straightforward, we've had a lot of documents exchanged between us & cic after we got AOR and before getting SA/AIP. There were times when we lost hope and other times we felt like the time is not moving fast enough just like this week. When I would just wish Friday would come a little faster. I guess its just natural. Purpose of writing this is to give others who are waiting hope, that there is always a light at the end of the tunnel and CIC officers are just as humans as we are. There is a right time and place for everything and I am sure those waiting for SA/AIP & DM shouldn't lose hope!

Unfortunately anytime there is a request...especially extra proof of relationship ...it causes delays.

Other delays can be if a person has dependents, complicated medical or background check. Some countries also take longer to have background checks verified.

I applied December 2015 and I just received SA 2 weeks ago and a request to go for medical and pay Right of PR. I have a few questions:

1) My passport expires Jan 2018 and I am waiting for my medical result which I did February 7th 2017. Do I need to renew my passport before I am called for Interview?
2)If I want to change my maiden should I do that when I go for the interview or wait until I its time for citizenship? Is the process complicated?
3) How long does it take CIC to receive my medical result and update?

I can't wait to get this over with Gosh! its been a rush of anxiety for me.

Congrats Oluwalisa. I would not worry about the passport since you have some time (11 months) before it expires.

Someone else will answer your other two questions. I think you will need your marriage certificate to change your name.

Congrats with SA, your landing interview is coming soon I wouldn't worry about expiry for now, as long as the passport is still valid. I looked into changing your last name, as I'm planning to do it too after PR process is done. They will issue PR with EXACTLY the same names as in passport. So first you'll need to change your name on the passport and apply for a new PR card.

Great. I will wait then until the PR card arrives. The doctor says it takes 7-10 days though. I hate waiting lol. its funny that I have waited this long and a few more weeks seems like forever

I hate it when my lawyer or cic agent tells me that. Like, bs, we all know that's not true! Lots of people are even getting their pr in less than 12-16 months. So bs. And so frustrating!!

26 months is worse case scenario so that is what they are quoting. When we were waiting last year, we went through the spreadsheet here for previous years and worked out the average is around 16-18 months and then a small percentage is 26 months. Obv the spreadsheet here isn't every Inland applicant but it gives you an idea. I think they quote 26 months instead of 16-18 because if they didn't and a small % takes that long but the processing time says "18" months, that small % will be like wtf.

Is that right? Or should we pay double?

There are no taxes on the fees. That extra 150 is the fee for your child. 1190 is correct. And if you are applying for an owp with your app, inlcude a separate receipt for 255.

When I applied I paid fees for OWP as well, but I never received it (was out of status, and my lawyer was stupid to mention that it meant I wasn't qualified for OWP). Hypothetically, can I request a return after 2 years after applying?

We never received SA, only AIP which was via email. We then received our 'landing' appointment in an email. My DM was only showed on ecas.

I also applied for OWP and paid 225 separately. The OWP was recieved after about 4 months we mailed everything.
