People who are asking about the card, the agent said it will take 2 months and not to schedule any trip outside Canada until then
You should be able to travel without issue as long as you use land borders and have your landing document with you.

It can take 6+ months to get the card. Source: I've been waiting 7.

It has been 7 months since and your wife hasn't gotten her PR card yet???? That's terrible.

I had a similar case whereby an 2012 applicant was waiting a long time for his PR card to arrive. When I told him to call the office, he found out that CIC sydney never gotten his official mailing address from the office where he landed as PR. They were waiting on an address to send it to. He finally gotten it a couple of weeks after he gave them the address.

Could it be possible that you may have the same issue?

We landed October 8, at that time there was a reported 45 day wait for PR cards. So, sometime in December we should have gotten it.
CIC goes on vacation for December, so we expected it in January.

The issue is that sometime in December CIC got a new machine that makes PR cards using a different photo size, and promptly forgot how to use the old one or didn't have enough electrical sockets to have both machines plugged in.
So, what they did was throw away all pending PR card applications.

We started calling in January, and were told the same useless drivel by the agents, that they don't know and we just have to wait.
In February we got a letter stating that our photos needed to be resubmitted because we "failed to comply with the January 3rd 2016 guidelines (duh... we landed in 2015..).
We submitted the new photos in February, and now it's May.

Called the garbage center a few time, they don't know and can't tell if our PR card is being processed/mailed/anything. Too stupid. Can't figure it out.
Their excuse is that they're "working so hard" they don't have time to notate their progress, it just gets done whenever we get it in the mail.

Every time CIC has a backlog they just ignore all the applications that are in that backlog.
Just like when they decided they were going to start processing September 2014 applications because it was taking too long to get February, March, April, May, June, July, and August done.

Classic CIC backlog reduction plan, just trash all application in the queue up to wherever an acceptable backlog is.

Where should I keep my PR card? In a very safe place such as passport, or in my wallet such as drivers license, ID etc?

Well...since you only need the PRC when you return to Canada, it makes sense to keep it with the only other thing you need to re-enter Canada: your passport.

If you have it in your wallet and your wallet is lost or stolen, it will be a major pain!

I'm wondering, what is normally the next status after "Application received" if you check the application status on the CIC website?
Haven't really seen any activity other than that since submitting the application end of 2014 oO.

Just want to verify this is normal :), I did however get my OWP in 2015.

It's normal. I'm not sure what ECAS is supposed to be for, but it notifies you when CIC mails you something (yes, pretty useless).
So you can use it to see if anything got lost in the mail.

At some other random point in time you might get "medical results received", but you might not.
That really means nothing, doesn't have any bearing on processing.

The sponsor doesn't typically get anything in ECAS if everything goes normally.
The applicant gets a notification a few days after they land, that's it.

My ECAS shows "Application Received", "Medical Results Received"
My spouse's shows "Application Received", "Landed at blah blah blah"

To think I wasted time checking that stupid system for 2 years to get those messages...

I have IEC work permit and also UCI number. Am I able to check my sponsorship & OWP application in that ECAS site? I tried but it didn't recognised my UCI. I have sent my applications about month ago, so I guess they haven't opened it yet?

You should be able to, give it a try.

If you're going to land soon you can always just wait till then, you'll be able to get your SIN at landing.

Hi All
I landed today at Etobicoke. It was a very simple process which took about 45 minutes including waiting time. I was asked about dependents and criminal conviction . I then went and got my SIN a few windows away. Thanks to you all for sharing your experiences in real time, it gave me hope during some trying times.
Here is my timeline:
App Rec: October 21 2014
AOR: November 19 2014
Medical Requested: Feb 3 2016
SA: Feb 6 2016
AIP: Feb 6 2016
Medical Completed: Feb 11 2016
DM: April 5 2016
Landing Invitation: May 3 2016
Landed: May 9 2016 ( Etobicoke)

For those who are still waiting don't loose hope it may be long but not forever,

And, we are finally done!

Our timeline is as follows:
Application Received by CIC on 3 December 2014 (with FBI check and medical)
First AOR 6 Feb 2015
2nd AOR received 5 May 2015
OWP application submitted under the pilot programme on 31 Oct 2015 (received 4 November)
OWP issued dated 4 Feb
SA/AIP received March 9, 2015
Landing Interview 16 March 2016 in Vancouver
PR Card received 9 May 2016 (issued 2 May 2016)

So, that puts us at exactly 18 months (after being married for 16 years).

The really good news is that the PR card is good for 5 years, so no more CIC for 4.5 years!!!

Thanks to everyone who continue to contribute support and advice to people on this forum. It certainly helps to know that you are not alone, and to have some idea of what to expect.
