ummmmh...am just wondering if there is any Feb 2014 applicant?

We received our ARO in June 2014 and ever since we can log in the eCAS our status always shows "application received" until now ??? I've seen other people who sent out their apps much later but their status are "in progress" and can find the "start progressing date" from their eCAS result...should we call CIC and check if there is any problem on it?

We have been waiting for CIC to go through our applications very patiently without calling them at all since we sent out our applications in Feb 2014 because my husband says "it always takes that long". But I just not sure if we should stay quiet anymore :-[
I am a January 2014 applicant, and I called CIC yesterday to try and get some information out of them, but they always say the same thing: we are currently processing applications received on October 21, 2014. We have not yet begun processing your appliccation. Please contact us only if the processing time has passed... Bla bla bla... So when you see on their website that they are processing March 2014 applications and you haven't heard from them, that's when they will take action. Also, the fact that some people see "application received" and some see "in process" doesn't actually mean anything. Mine has been saying "in process" for many months now, but whenever I call, they say that they haven't started processing it yet.... Sorry of this is not the kind of answer you were expecting. Main idea here is don't rely on e-cas. Just follow the time-line... You will notice that several December 2014 applicants had their application processed, so it's a good sign :)

Hello Anna,

Thanks for sharing - its actually very helpful! Well, we were expecting to hear the same answer from CIC if we made the phone call that's why we never try to call them ::) honestly, knowing that people who sent out the application later but got more information from eCAS than you is really annoying too! well, we can only keep our spirit high and waiting patiently for our turn...

Hopefully it's really a good sign that they actually have start progressing the application sent by Deb 2014 and we are covered too!

Thanks again!

The main reason not to call them is because they're completely useless.

I'm going to sound like a broken record, but calling them is like calling KFC for details about your app. They have no idea.
They're sitting there at a LiteBrite instead of computer, and when you call them they throw a dart at the wall and tell you what it lands on.

Yes student can apply for OWP. The problem is that OWP does not allow the student to continue studying. Once you get OWP, you must quit your studies at university immediately. So it is not good advice for students to apply for OWP if they haven't finished their education studies.

Ok then. I didn't know that.
Can you please tell me where is this information?
I haven't seen it anywhere...

I have mentioned this before but I asked my MP to call them. The MP has a different phone number (inside line), so they dont have to wait to get through. They also get to talk to someone who has information about your application. When my MP called, they told him that the medical and other supporting documents were received....When I call they say: we have received your application... Useless.

I did the same thing, but the MP doesn't have a real inside line, they have something like a... correspondent that they can ask questions.
However, they only seem to be able to tell you what pieces of paper have physically arrived, and nothing regarding anything else.

For example, I was contacting them since September, through all the months they were too lazy to do any processing, and their response to my MP every time was simply "there was a small hiccup in processing, but we'll be resuming right now". Fast forward to March, they're only now doing the bare minimum to keep the backlog from increasing.

You can apply online only after SA or AIP.

Hey Sophie,

I am a little confused here...I was under the impression that Sponsorship Approval and Approval in Principle are the same thing. Yet on the timeline you have it as two separate steps. What is the difference?

To understanding you can take course/class which is less than 6 months , thus not requiring student visa. Student Visa only required when the course is full time and more than 6 months..
Well would you be able to tell when was your application mailed for PR for inland . Also did you applied for OWP.

Thanks..

In "the old days" there were just only one email to the sponsor, and that was the AIP. A while ago CIC started to send separate emails, the second is for the applicant stated something like "you meet the requirements to apply for permanent residency" (or something like that). Sometimes CIC ask more documents from the applicant and they got a letter about that instead of the AIP.
Most recently a few applicant said that they never received this second AIP email but got DM. DM starts with "We are pleased to advise..." and than you meet the requirements.

I applied on 30-10-14, both for PR and OWP. Does every OWP case 27 has same condition written on it?
