Hi ,

sorry for the confusion no im refering for the maternity benefit that im receiving right now I do not have receipt and they asking for it. thanks
Then they aren't asking for a receipt. They are asking for pay stubs or some sort of documentation of where your money comes from. Your option C will be one of the documents you have to include. You can always contact Service Canada (or whomever distributes your maternity benefits) and ask them for a printout of the amounts you have received to current date.

Good day! We received AOR last Aug 7. Is the number on the upper right corner of the email that starts with an F is the file number or an application number? Is this what is used to login to ecas? Thank you.

Yes, that is the File number. Your AOR should've also included your sponsors UCI #. You should be able to log in using either of these numbers and your spouses birthdate and such.

I just joined the forum. We applied Feb 2014 and received AOR in June. When we first applied I saw the 1st stage was only 7 months. I gave up my job and everything to be with my pregnant Canadian wife in Ontario. She wanted to move to the United States but with the healthcare reform I couldn't put her on my benefits and she couldn't get a job due to being pregnant.

Now, August, and the time is over 12 months (given the time showing on the website which I can already tell is inaccurate). I found something from the forum (on David Cohen's Blog dated August 5) that asks why the government has extended the time frame. One idea is the backlog is being created to eventually phase out the Inland Application, as some other immigration program such as Entepreneur has. If it is true that CIC intends to cancel the Inland App and this backlog is created...I'll just give and walk away from Canada. It'll suck crawling back to mom and dad with a wife and daughter now, but at least I'll have a nicely missed "Mom's home cooked meal" :'(

I've depleted my bank account, depleted my US retirement (I only got half my money because I pulled it early which caused a 20% tax to the US and since it was coming to Canada it was given a additional 30% tax. Since our daughter is a dual citizen of Canada and the US, I'm about to tell my wife let's forget it and move to the United States. She can stay with baby and I'll go back to work. She really doesn't want to go back to work when her maternity leave is up, and I really want to work. My employer back home made an agreement with their Canadian offices that I would have one year (from November 2013) to rejoin the company. They did not sponsor and I had to do it all myself so the time frame seemed to fit.

The funny thing is my boss at the time before I left my job said "You don't want to move there. Knowing your luck, you'll get there with these impressive time tables that even the United States can't match and when you submit your paperwork, the time will change and you'll be stuck with no money a baby that needs diapers and food, and you'll be begging to come back home." And now our parents send us formula, clothes, and diapers to help us with expenses. All our bills are paid in our apartment so we just pay rent and buy the food essentials since my wife's EI only pays her 53% of her normal salary until she goes back to work. We were told about a child tax benefit but for some reason Revenue Canada included my salary from the US for 2013 and we only receive $54 dollars a month. That's one box of diapers and one container of formula (that lasts a week).

The Inland process hasn't been 7 months for first stage in forever. It was at 11 months for at least the last 15 months.

Anyway, moot point.

Why don't you withdraw your current application and file an outland application with Ottawa?

You can remain with your spouse and you'll likely be all PR'd up and landed in roughly 6 months, given the current trends for US citizens. (Most are landing in 4 months)

It was below 8 months in February for a very short time. But otherwise Alurra is right, I just read someone got approved from the US in 3 months. Of course, it can change as well, maybe go up for 8 months, or something, and you already waiting for 6 months inland, so it's hard to tell if it's worth to withdraw your application.

I can't post links but I read the article "Foreign Spouses Trapped In Canada Due to Sponosorship" in the Toronto Star as well. The blog I mentioned above was from David Cohen named "Punishing Spousal Sponsors" I don't like the feeling of being "Trapped" so I sent CIC an email to withdraw the application. Wifey isn't happy with the decision, but yeah if it is going to take over a year, I'll go back home and I'll try again to bring her to the States. Apparently the Obama Administration is giving illegal immigrants all sorts of benefits better than citizens since I left so maybe she can finally get healthcare and a job faster than I would up here.

You can still try and apply outland, you can have applications both in Canada and in the US.
Good luck!

If they did not include the UCI in the AOR email, then you can call CIC with your file number and ask them what the sponsors UCI is. I should point out that the UCI is not imperative as you should be able to log into eCas using the file number.

You do realize to just give up and walk away would be a waste of all this energy you have put forth so far?

Withdraw the application, but get another ready and apply OUTLAND. You can use the same receipt for the payments you made for your INLAND application, and just the other day, I think yesterday, I read about a US Citizen that had his/her COPR in their mailbox in 3 months.

I think, if you give up and go back to the states, you won't be able to get your wife setup in 3 months. Not to mention that heavier restrictions placed upon a sponsor to a spouse to the USA. I would strongly urge you to listen to your wife in this matter as well because you certainly don't want to risk your marriage because of all of this.

Whatever you choose, best of luck.

My wife's study permit is gonna expire by the end of this month. we applied for sponsorship along with OWP in march and got AOR earlier this month. in addition, we also applied for visitor status last to have a legal status after her study permit expires.
She recently got accepted by a university for graduate program and my question is whether she can start her studies in this September term (next month) with the implied status? if yes, what should we do with visitor visa application? should we cancel it and apply for study permit.

My wife study permit will be expired November 2015 but we decided that she will stop going to school (for ESL) until her PR is finalized because we just bought a new house and living on one source of income now. Do we need to change to visitor status (she submitted OWP with PR app and got AOR).

Please help us with your advices. Will she be in trouble if she doesnt go to school?
