Hi everyone,

Just wanted to thank everyone for their contributions and updates. I've followed this thread for over two years now. We're almost done. I'm posting now because I know there are a few around my timeline who are still waiting for good news.

Straight forward application, no red flags. Missed the flurry of AIP & DM trend at the end of 2013. Ended up with AIP only.

Medicals up front. All fees paid. OWP applied for afterwards in August '13. Visitor extensions made prior to OWP application.

AOR Feb 28, 2013
AIP Jan 8, 2014 (email) - never received SA
MSP received effective Jan 1
OWP early Feb
DM Dec 9, 2014 (email)
Landing interview Dec 19 2014. (Snail mail received Dec 10)
Vancouver office for interview.

From start to finish (PR card in hand) it'll probably be closer to 2 years. We're glad it's almost finished.

Keep your hopes up! Your time will come.

Thank you for sharing your timeline and congrats for becoming a PR!:)

Congratulations - looks like this Friday is going to be a banner day for you. I still walk by the CIC office regularly (Expo Blvd, across from BC Place and next to my dog's veterinarian) . I'll say kinds words about them for finally completing your file next time I walk by!

Congratulations for finally becoming a PR. It was a long wait.

I've just checked my e-cas and I was surprised to notice that they changed so fast.
We received the SA on 11th and today it appears on my husband's e-cas Decision Made
and on mine
"Permanent Residence

We received your application for permanent residence on August 28, 2013.

Medical results have been received."

they just added today or yesterday that they received the medical.
I did my medical up-front on august 2013

When did you applied ?

I did not received yet AIP cause they asked for more proofs and fingerprints.
Did you ? Usually they write "started processing" on the applicant e-case only after receiving AIP.

Hey everyone,
I have 2 more questions. Thanks a million to all of you for helping out so far.

1.When I need to send additional requested info to the processing centre, what do I put in the email subject line? I imagine they get a tonne of emails each day. My name and UCI, maybe agents name?

2. Do I need to bring anything to the medical, apart from ID. The guide mentions another form (IMM 1017E) but I did not receive this.
Also do I get anything from the doctor to prove it was completed or does he take care of all of that.

I really want to make sure CIC get everything they requested from me.

weirdly we got started processing...then aip...then our medical showed up....or maybe that is normal now.

So happy that things are progressing further for people. And I have DM :D

Now im wondering how do they schedule the interview? Do we get another email or is it only by snail mail?

I don't advise anyone to take the comments under the story to heart. The internet can be a real soapbox for the less than pleasant minority of people in this world.

While I understand the plight of the couple in the article, they knew the timeline process for inland processing. They applied in July past. You can't tell me that they didn't know the timeline when they applied. They were not forced to apply inland. They could have easily applied outland and face a much shorter processing PR. The husband would have likely have already landed if not very close to landing as PR by the time the article was published.

and how do we submit corrections to outland processing being explained wrong in this article? it is NOT required for an applicant to LEAVE canada in order to apply outland, nor does NZ applications actually take 11 months. if CBC had done their homework, they would know the posted processing times online are NOT true averages, are from LAST year, and do NOT represent what current, outland applicants face in reality. i understand the need for attention to the inland issue, but to report the facts wrong is just plain bad jouralism. is this normal for CBC news?

I also agree with screech, obviously this applicant did NOT do HIS homework. If he did, he most likely would have been approved by now by applying outland, or at least close to approval.

I actually feel bad for you Screech. do You like playing God? do you get off on judging people?
so you think the guy didn't do his homework!
so let's put it this way, he met a Canadian and they slept together, she got pregnant and they both thought they want to stay together. they had 3 options, either they apply for Outland processing and he would need to either stay in canada unemployed for the whole period of his stay, move back to NZ while his partner is pregnant! or apply inland with what seemed to be a promise of service of 8 months of processing.

if he applied in July of 2014, inland certainly was NOT "a promise of service of 8 months of processing". I'm pretty sure this guy applied THIS past summer, as in 2014, when processing was at 14-15 month processing, NOT at the original 6-8 month time frame. or did i read that wrong in the article?

hi there, I have to disagree with you on this issue. You are right that appling outside Canada does not require you to leave Canada. However, they do not have first stage approval which means you don't get Medical coverage until your close is fully closed. In the case of New Zealand, not sure how long it may take. Second, if apply outside Canada and if you are required to attend interview, you have to fly back to Zealand. Nobody knows why CIC is so sloppy. Can we simply focus on this point and don't get distracted? No need to blame the husband as we are all victims

thanks
