This is the original e-mail I sent back in May and I mentioned in my 2nd e-mail that the processing time is now almost 12 months.

Dear Ms. Roxanne James,

I am a proud, law-abiding, tax-paying Canadian since 1992. I am writing this letter to you regarding the long processing time for Inland Spousal Sponsorship and Permanent Residency.

I hope you know that it currently takes about 18 months for the spouse of a Canadian to become a permanent resident. The first stage (sponsorship approval) takes 10 months, which means 10 months without job and no healthcare coverage for the spouse.

It's now been 9 months and 7 days since we applied for Inland Sponsorship and Permanent Residency. I understand that there are lots of applications in queue and there are always limited number of officers who are working on the applications, so we need to be patient with this process.
However, these are what I don't understand:

1. why let the husband/wife (person who's being sponsored) spend the whole time without job and no health coverage?
2. why are we left in the dark during the whole process without knowing what's going on? call center is available, but they have no idea on the details either
3. who approved to transfer all applications from CPC-Mississauga to CPC-Vegreville in the middle of the year without any notice to applicants and why did the processing time increased from 7 months to 10 months
4. why is there only 2 days worth of applications being processed at CPC-M since the applications have been transferred 3 months ago?
5. how come the courtesy is different for inland spouse sponsorship? The spouses of temporary foreign workers, students, skilled workers and other classes of immigrants are granted to work permits with processing time as short as a few month.

I had to quit my permanent job in Toronto and moved temporarily to BC with my wife to take a high paying contract job because I am the only source of income for my family. My wife is sitting at home, not being able to do anything, feeling insecure and useless during this whole time. I got married at age 40 and I would like to have kids as soon as possible, but that is also on hold because it will cost a fortune for my wife to go to hospital. My father-in-law got sick few days ago and he's in hospital now, but my wife can't travel back to visit him because there is no guarantee that the custom would let her back in to Canada.

I strongly believe that the best solution for this is either to make the inland processing time as fast as outland processing time, or to issue open work permit at the time when CIC received and acknowledged that the application is being processed.

I hope you can represent myself as your constituent and the hundreds of other Canadians and their families affected by these unexpected and unwarranted delays and make the process more efficient so that the spouses can be proud to become a Canadian and contribute to the society.

Thank you very much for reading this long letter.
Well written. However I think the delay is not because of backlog or "many application in queue". In average at any given time they only have 8,000 applications for this stream. The problem is they dont want to process them.

You won't get a landing date UNTIL you have paid the RPRF, so far as I know. Sadly, waiting until the end like this only puts a delay on the date because from they way I understand it to work. You pay the fee, the information is then given to, hmm, would be Mississauga now, who will then transfer that information to your landing office who will then note it in your file that it has been paid and a landing date can now be issued. I know the letters usually state if you haven't paid it, bring it with you to your landing date, but I've not known ANYONE who's done this.

so money 1st then we can talk about landing date later ... that's what u mean right ? ...........sad

That's not correct for most of the offices. They send you the landing appointment regardless of you paying the RPRF or not. While offices that don't have payment methods at location, they ask you to pay online and require the proof of payment and other documents before they set an appointment. I've noticed this happen mostly in Montreal office. But for majority of the offices including the ones in GTA, I've seen a lot of people pay RPRF at the landing office. They send you the landing appointment regardless of you paying the RPRF or not.

Also I'm waiting on my landing appointment. I haven't paid my RPRF yet, my local office is Kitchener. I'll share my experiences when I hear from them.

But if you can pay it online, that's obviously the best way to go by it.

My hubby wants to know if we can march down to the Office in Mississauga and knock on the front door and ask to speak to someone. :p
Or is anyone nearby that can actually check if the lights are on during the day?
I would have thought, before we started this Immigration adventure, that there are staff specifically dedicated to processing Inland Spousal Sponsorships. Why would anyone in their right mind, move applications across the country, if there were no staff in place to actually process them?

It just boggles my mind that we are still stuck on July four months later! Every week, I hope to see more AIP's and DM and every friday for the last while I'm disappointed not to see decent progress. I realise that there are still other people out there who are not on the forums, but the dates of the people who are here are fairly well spaced out.

Quick rant and now I'm back to my bottle of wine :'(

Hello!
I've been reading this forum for almost a year now and it's about time I made an account I think haha.
I am a Canadian Citizen who filed for sponsorship of my American husband in December of 2013, and haven't heard anything back from CIC besides "Application Received". It's driving us crazy, and my husband can't work legally here so he's left at home all day feeling useless and it's been really getting to us. About to lose the place we're living because I don't make enough to support the two of us with the kinds of jobs I can get, and I'm going to school as well. Neither of us have ever been so stressed out before, and I really wish we would've chosen outland if we knew it was going to be this difficult.
We're even considering withdrawing our application, getting a little bit of the money back possibly, and him trying to sponsor me to the US instead, so we can both be working and making money towards something...

Does ANYBODY know when we should be expecting his OWP? :(
