Why are some of you getting AOR so late? I understand getting AOR is always the first stage and takes around 30-40 days...?

AOR = acknowledgement of receipt. Its not an approval just a declaration that they've received the application. Depending on how quickly they go through the piles will determine how quickly the AOR is sent out. From my understanding.

It is done!!! I've landed today at Hamilton office. It was quick. Check the COPR if there is no mistakes, 3 questions about crime dependents and if I have been refused enter to Canada. They asked my hub if he is sponsoring me. That all. We waited a little bit longer for service canada to set up sin number, I'm soooo happppyyy dooooonnnneeee. Just wait for PR card I don't care we are not going anywhere this year.

The problem is CBSA are not in direct communication with CIC. The left hand doesn't talk to the right hand. I've read articles previously where someone has received a removal order when they have no status even though they have a sponsorship application in progress.

A sponsorship application, in and of itself, does nothing to prevent a person with a lack of status from being removed. AIP is supposed to be the stage that prevents removal, but it seems as though it may not be after all. *shrug*

Are you saying that AIP might not be enough for us right now?

NO!!!!
I just merely commented on the quoted post.

Personally, I do not know WHAT the official policy is with CBSA, now that the administrative deferral of removal is no longer in place.

The fact that they did not remove your husband back in November (which they certainly could have) screams positivity for you, IMHO.

I have a feeling that whichever 'department' issued the removal order isn't aware that you've received AIP. I can only imagine that the situation is difficult enough in and of itself...don't imagine the worst case scenario, as it will only make the unknown more unbearable. If you already check in monthly, I can't imagine this is anything more than an awful miscommunication/mistake on their part. When is your next check-in? I'm sure they could offer some answers then.

Yeah I think it's a just matter CBSA and have CIC haven't completely updated their procedures for this particular scenario.

JHWife - I highly doubt you'll have an issue since you got AIP.

Sorry I'm so on edge right now. Agreed if they wanted to do something they could have back in October. I just don't know if this is something mandatory that they do, perhaps to get an update to where you are at with the application process..who knows!

We just did a check in this Monday, the 3rd. Everything went as normal. Next check in is March 3rd, well after the interview
