Just wondering if anyone in this forum is in Chris Alexander's riding - Ajax-Pickering. If so, writing to him as your MP might be a way to get the message to him a bit more directly. Or if anyone lives nearby there, maybe even going to his office when it's open and asking to speak with someone even if it's not him? It is just madness that spouses of foreign workers and students get their OWPs within a couple months and we've been waiting for over a year.

I just applied last week and I answered with a 'yes'. In an attachment I wrote a small explanation about the slow process and that's the reason that i have to extend it again... Cause last year i really thought it would be all set and done by this time....
Thank you. Thats what i thought too. Yeadh, when i applied they gave me 1 year. I thought that was way enough -:(

Hi Peimum, another option you could consider is the TN visa . Since your husband holds a US passport, it would be a lot easier. TN visa is good for 3 years.

This sounds like something my husband could have written. We applied inland almost a year ago (Hubby is from the states). Once hubby's temporary work visa expired, his employer was turned down for a renewal LMO. He has not been able to work since. He was issued a 2 year visitors visa. He has been a stay at home dad and homemaker. I feel awful for him because he wants so badly to provide for me and the kids, and basically feels emasculated. We all know he is depressed (including the family doctor) but he wont accept it. We fight a lot, and stress is high, but I am sure that is true of many people in the same boat (I know of quite a few). Is there hopes in saving the relationship? Skilled worker is a good option if you fit the bill.....

Hi guys. Question, if I apply for an extension of visitor visa then once approved widthraw my inland application and apply for Outland, would I still be able to stay since my extension has been approved?

Has anybody recently received DM?

My application has passed the 8 months mark for Stage 2. CIC Call centre just told me that since the overall 21-month processing time hasn't yet passed, I will have to wait.... But my application was received in March 2013... Why would the current processing time apply to my application?!

Does it make sense to anybody?

Ugh you should call again, they need to train their agents better. That makes NO SENSE.

Start of a new week guys...I know we've said this before, but let's hope for the best! At least we know that they're at least doing something with Princess029's notes. Just makes me a bit angry to think that my first stage has been done for awhile and I could have had OWP by now.

I see, you filed in July 2013, Have you so far received AIP. Any progress u know of.

No, no AIP :( I actually filed in June, but unfortunately for some mixed up paperwork (I will always make sure now for the rest of my life to sign on the right line), they show that they received my application August 7th, 2013. As far as progress, all we know here on this thread is that we still have a couple of people who filed July 29th and July 30th that still haven't heard anything.

I see where my post earlier might have gotten some people confused, thinking that I've received AIP. I was just going by what Princess029 had on her GSCM notes, showing her first stage has been approved but not having heard anything yet. She filed in August as well, so I was just saying if hers is done, mine should be done by now too...but no news to anyone yet. :( We're still waiting to hear news, same as everyone else!

Well. Just called them again. Apparently there are delays in Stage 2 approval now that has led to more than 8 months for processing.

Who knows when they are going to look at my files again... And they keep saying everything is good on the file, and it just needs to be looked at by an officer for final review - which I thought should have been done a month ago...

If this is the case, they should really be updating their processing time!!!!

I once heard someone say there's a landing post about an hour and a half away from Ottawa, which would be much faster than waiting for an interview. I don't know where it was though, and just yesterday I was trying to google it but I can't find a website where you can see border crossings. If you find out about the waiting times for an interview or a landing post for Ottawa please post it! I'd like to know.

You have been waiting for SO long, this sucks, I can't believe stage 2 is also stalled. Good luck, I hope they do something about this soon.

Note this type of work permit is not for re-entry. The border offficials will decide whether to let you back kn the country and i wouldnt leave the country for a while without your partner.
No type of work permit authorizes entry into Canada. That's the nature of a work permit: it authorizes the person to work in Canada. It does not authorize entry into Canada. Every work permit I've ever seen says right at the bottom: "***This does not authorize re-entry/Ceci n'autorise pas la ré-entrée***

Some ppl have gone back home for short visits (2 weeks) and have had no issues coming back to Canada. Though these ppl are from a visa exempt country.
Someone who is not visa exempt should obtain a TRV. These are issued (by CPC-O) for those already in Canada with a work or study permit. There's a lot of fear mongering in this area, and CIC discourages people from leaving, but CBSA (the agency responsible for actual enforcement) actually says in their own policy manuals that an officer should not refuse without reason. CIC's own manual (ENF 4: Port of Entry Examinations) indicates the level of documentation required for a refusal of someone with a valid visa.

Note also that someone with a valid work permit or study permit but an expired TRV must legally be re-admitted if they have only traveled to the US or St. Pierre et Miquelon.

For inland applicants you cannot go to the border to land. Inland applicants must complete their landing formalities at an inland office - this is necessary to ensure that the applicant meets the requirements of the "in Canada" class.
