Hi guys
Became a PR today :D I will post more tomm. about my whole experience.
Just a heads up for those who are landing at Vancouver, make sure to apply/have a temp. SIN before landing coz the officer said I won't be able to apply for my permanent SIN until I have PR card( I am going to Service Canada tomm. to try my luck). Once you land your work permit will become void so, apply before if you haven't already.
Congrats to Line.a,nrajani, ishy, and Cirene for all the awesome news ;D

Thanks a lot Guri for the advice and congratulations on your landing!

So what is everyone's guess for the processing date this week?

Up until last week (where it remained the same) it had been jumping 1 month every week!! :D

I am going to stay positive and guess it could go to July 23. *fingers crossed*

Guys I'm sorry to hear that.. Maybe CIC is catching up with applicants like me that were left behind.. Seems like it anyway, Activity was on of them, also line.a that just received her OWP and my case as well.. I just hope you guys get the good news soon! ;)

Hello Harmin.

I haven't been around the forum as often lately, I see you have been posting since I have been gone. So nice "meet" you! :)

What makes you think they are on hold from processing until the 2nd week in March? Did a CIC agent mention this?

Are you referring to this supposed transfer of files to Vegreville to Mississauga? Is there any way to know which files have or haven't been transfered?
I wouldn't think there would be any reason for the files to become lost in transfer...any more so than they could get lost in the regular office...lol.

Thanks Cirene! But at least it keeps the hope going when we hear of others like you guys getting your good news :)

I was sooo excited when it kept moving up a month every week. I was hoping it would keep going, but that would be a bit unrealistic. I don't know how in the world they could really process a whole month's worth of applications in 1 week! :P

Hi Cirene......

How does it feel to get AIP, DM and OWP at one go? :D

You need a SIN number to start working.

If you receive an OWP after you get AIP you need to get a SIN number to start working. Your employer needs this to make tax deductions of your paycheque. At this stage from I understand it's pretty simple you go to a Service Canada office with the OWP and they issue you one on the spot.

Once you have PR you can get your permanent SIN.

thank you, Linden, for this clear explanation.
