How long is the process for AIP for inland and the DM
Right now, first stage (AIP) is 8-9 months. If you do not receive DM right away, you could be waiting up to another 8 months for second stage. It then depends on where you are landing. Vancouver has the longest waiting times so far. You can keep checking this page here:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm-fc.asp

The second table shows inland processing times and which applications they are currently processing - it usually updates every week on the Wednesday or Thursday.

Right now they're saying 8-9 months after they receive your application for AIP...which we're hoping the timeline might shorten further this week, they've really been working hard the past couple of weeks! I have noticed that if you have no issues with your application, and you submit everything required at the beginning, some people are actually receiving their DM very close to the time they receive their AIP. Other than that, it really just depends on your situation and what other documents they might ask for. On the website they're saying 8-9 months for stage 1 (AIP) and then 8 months for stage 2, but that's really just a general idea and varies from person to person.

I keep that website open at all times in my browser, just in case it changes on a random day! ;)

Thank you for your response. Is the visa office already send your wife OWP or got approve?or uf i leave my current employer i just need to apply for open work permit for me to work? Together with the spousal sponsorhip? I that what i need to do?im so confused. And do i need also to undergo medical if my husband sponsor me?
We only received AOR (Acknowlegment of Receipt). We submitted OWP application along with the spousal application. As far as I know we will receive the OWP after the AIP (first stage approval) or we will receive it at the same time (not sure though) then after we receive the approve OWP that's the time my wife can apply for a different job that she like.

We didn't had the medical before we submitted the application, as my wife was pregnant by then. She might undergo medical in March 2014 without any request from the VO and advice the VO regarding the medical. We paid all the fees upfront as well.

I received my AIP on January 28th and I still have not received my work permit :( Its been two weeks. I called CIC yesterday and they told me it still has not yet been sent out.
I was so excited when I received the email because I really want to work again and now its like another month or so of waiting.
How long did the rest of you guys wait for your work permit in the mail?

I don't think you'd have to worry about sending in a work permit request or even let them know you're not sending one if your wife isn't planning on working. After she receives her PR status I'm assuming she won't need one anyway, so for the time being I don't think it would be an issue. With your sponsorship you are proving that you can support her without additional income, so there's no reason that she has to work at all. I could be wrong, but that's just my line of thinking. :)

No problem! ;D I'm still waiting on my AIP, seems the last couple of days have been slow on news, at least on these forums. I'm hoping to hear something very soon though!

Can I still work to my current employer while processing the AIP or i need to leave my employer right away
Yes you can still work for your current employer while you are waiting for AIP. Note you cannot change jobs till you have your open work permit though you can research and apply for jobs before you receive your work permit.

Calling and following up in writing is perfectly reasonable. Just don't expect a call to be enough. In your situation, I'd explain the situation and ask the officer how she/he wants you to proceed. Put it in their lap - they have your passport.
Talked to CIC. For one of the things I have to write an explanation and send it to them. They requested police certificate for when I stayed in some other country more than 6 months since age of 18. Since I didn't, I will write an explanation that I'm not required to present that.

As for my passport, They said: Oh you gotta call CBSA and ask them what their procedure is. Before calling CBSA, I found on the CIC website that they arent supposed to forward us and are supposed to send an internal message to CBSA to release the passport.
I called CBSA, explained the issue. Without even talking to me the agent transferred me back to the CIC line. lol. Frustrating!
so now I'm also trying to speak to my consulate and ask if I can get a passport because I have a copy of the previous passport. If they don't accept that then I'm going to attach that correspondence to an explanation letter and send it to CIC office.

I don't see any other way of doing it at the moment. They are just bouncing me back and forth and I have only until July 23rd to have all the documents in, before they give up on my application. :|
