Congrats to Hyacynth and Psalm91 on your DMs! I am very encouraged to see some inland DMs in the past couple of weeks. I think i was close to getting one too, but my passport had expired and CIC asked for a photocopy of the renewed one. Yesterday the call center confirmed that they received the photocopy i sent in late October, so nothing else is pending. Keeping positive thoughts about getting a DM very soon.

Thanks everybody. My landing office is saskatoon. Because I moved out of mississauga and now live at Regina. Time of landing is 1pm. Can I apply for American visa with my copr ? Though won't travel until I get the card . But want to know if I apply with my COPR is that accepted at the American embassy? Thanks

I am not sure if they will accept COPR. Can't say. My only experience is that when my wife went to US consulate for visa, they specifically asked for PR card.

Thanks Screech339, oh well I guess I have to wait for the PR card before I can apply . But I don't get it why they can't accept the main certificate of Permanent Resident . But would accept PR card. Is the information on the card different from the COPR? Have an idea how long it's gonna take them to mail the card after landing on Tuesday? Is there anyway I can make them issue it faster ? Really would love to travel for Christmas .

I think it is because it is written on COPR, "it is not a travel document". Whereas PR card is accepted by US as a travel document. You can't even board the plane with a COPR. So US agents may feel you be "stuck" in US unable to leave US as required. I guess they want to be 100% sure that you are able to leave US. A PR card ensure them of that. A COPR doesn't.

That makes lots of sense. Can I request for urgent processing of the PR card? I know I read somewhere here about sending them tickets or something like that can't remember .

Not for the first time getting PR card. You can request an urgent processing when you renew or replacing lost card.

So a quick update for everyone still no papers... but after calling CIC for 3 weeks straight and practically bagging them to ask for an update on my case they did and hey guess what they need more additional information... I called them 2 weeks after they said they would ask for an update and told me they emailed it to my lawyer so I asked me lawyer if she happened to. miss it or something no she didn't immigration sent it to the wrong email address... so I asked them again for it and they mailed it this time... wonder how long it's going to be for me to receive that mail... why does it have to take 3 years to decide I have no clue... anyways good day everyone

Hi everyone,

My wife has finally received her interview request!

Applied: May 2012.
CIC received application (w/ medicals): July 3, 2012.
Processing: January 2, 2013.
Decision made: April 8, 2013. This decision made expired, because our medical results expired and CIC complications.
New medical requested: May 2014.
New decision made: November 7, 2014.
Interview day: December 18, 2014 at the Victoria, BC office (intermittent location)

If I were to give anyone advice, it's this:
1) Do not move between provinces at anytime while your application is being processed. We did, and it delayed us by many, many months.
2) Do not do medical tests until CIC requests it. If you do it quickly, like us, it could expire.
3) After a decision has been made, and you haven't heard back from CIC in a long time, do what we did: write the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration and request your information under the Access to Information Act. After we did these, we got the interview. I'm not saying we got our interview because we wrote the Minister and requested our information, but it seemed to have helped.
4) Calling CIC didn't help at all. We get the same message (i.e., Vancouver office is slow, new policies have been put in place, etc...).

Good luck!

She said I will get my PR card within 19 calendar days as that's the current processing time. It feels so good to be a permanent resident lol. Just have to wait for my PR Card to arrive in my mail. Thanks everyone for your support .
