when should I renew open work permit ?

I applied for my OWP on 16 September online, and it was approved a month later. I received it the last week of October in the mail, which is in the nick of time considering the old one expired 31 October. It definitely took longer for them to get to my application than it did to process it.

Key thing is checking application process times on the CIC website. You will need to give yourself longer to renew your work permit if you plan to mail it in, but I advise about 60 days ahead of expiry if you want to renew your work permit online.

I got told on October 20th that they would need time to review my background checks (which now say have had since June 15th 2014) and I could call back October 15th 2015!! I wrote an email immediately to Chris Alexander's office. Was called for a new medical 3 days later so am hoping this means they are finally moving on my application. Which I completed last Saturday.

My OWP expired October 2nd, they would let me apply online as they originally told me to and I'm still waiting for it now (received September 10th). If not here in a week, which is not going to happen as currently working on August 15th ones, my driving license expires too and I then will struggle to get to work until I can renew it with my OWP.

My SIN obviously also expired and my work got their legal counsel involved who said it's fine to work without it while on implied status. Thankfully.

So, like others, I'm back to waiting on decisions again...

My husband and I are still waiting for a reply for his landing papers as well, so far everything was okay and the last we heard from CIC was stating medical results have been received and now we are over our waiting time for everything to be completed. We have been calling CIC call center and agent is saying that its taking long because apparently the medical is expired, when my husband did his medical early last year. They told us to wait but we dont even know if we should send a new medical to CIC or wait till they ask for a new medical. They also send us a letter back in Feb 2014 stating my husband can apply for an open work permit, but we left it thinking the papers will come through soon anyways, now the waiting it getting really stressful and his thinking of applying for an open work permit but we'r not quit sure how to apply for it online, I've seen work permit applications and all but not for the open work permit, its really confusing and stressful. Can someone please kindly tell me how we can apply for an open work permit online where you dont already have to have an employer? and also what we should do regarding this medical issue?

Hi guys so sorry I haven't been I. Here I a very long time.
I received my PR card in the mail back on Aug 12th.
Two months after landing, I've been out of the country
to London for two weeks and it' was such a great feeling
Re entering Canada as a PR holder!
Sorry u Hvnt been bk on here to update my status.
Those of you still waiting you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Wow it's been a long ride for me . But I thank God it's almost over . I got my DM November 13th 2014 . Received email for my landing Nov 14 2014 , I am landing on the 25th November 2014 .
