Right now the spreadsheet has been pretty much out of date. Inputs / feedback from 2012 Inlanders has pretty much drop to almost nil. I'm sure a lot of the 2012 inlander has gotten DM / landed by now. Not saying for sure but interests from the 2012 Inlanders has dropped considerably. I can only work based on feedback from other members. The longer the lack of feedback passes, the less up-to-date the spreadsheet gets.

The worst Inland case I'd ever seen the applicant had been waiting six years for second stage approval. No issues, nothing complicated, just "normal processing" according to CIC when pushed on the delay.

Have you submitted a request for GSMC notes on your file? Perhaps there is something in it that is causing the delay.

That cant be normal processing at all, something must have happened.

Yes, the file had been transferred between offices more than once. In essence, it "fell behind the filing cabinet". Once that applicant involved their MP (who received the "normal processing times" response) the file suddenly started moving forward.

In other words, CIC said "normal processing time" but someone internally said "we dropped the ball on this one, just can't admit it".

First time posting here....

The CIC site says:
We received your application for permanent residence on March 29, 2012.

We started processing your application on October 11, 2012.

Medical results have been received.

I got my medical done in November 2012 after getting the OWP and passing first phase, but due to some lengthy process resulting from one of my four non-accompanying children in the US (who was 19 at the time) refusing to submit to a medical exam when I had the other three examined in July 2013, when that was settled I was informed I needed to have a second medical exam which was done in May 2014 (as soon as possible after receiving the letter saying it was needed).

Now I am waiting.... and since I am not to DM yet, I doubt I could be landed by the time my OWP ends on 31-Oct-2014.

I applied for an extension of the OWP. My concern is -- will they deny an extended OWP because I have been in Canada since April 2010 on a work permit? It will create a severe hardship for me and my wife (a Canadian citizen by birth) if so since I work and she is retired and we pay a mortgage here. I imported my own job from the US as my employer kindly converted me from being on the US headcount to Canadian headcount, and I explained all this in a letter I attached to my OWP extension application. Does anyone have experiences with this as to what to expect? I applied online a week ago for the OWP renewal, so hopefully I will hear soon.

Based on what others have posted, DM might not happen for me until early 2015 I am thinking.

What kind of an OWP do you have? IEC or PGWP?

It sounds like he has a spousal open work permit.

That's extendable. There's no legal basis for a refusal.

I don't know what IEC or PGWP mean or how to tell from looking at the document. I do know it turned into an open work permit when I was approved first stage and extended, and my PR application is based on family class as opposed to being work-related, though being in the IT field with the experience I have I probably could have taken either approach successfully. If I were to guess, computergeek is correct that it should be a spousal OWP, and I am happy to hear that there should be no reason for my application to extend it further to be denied.

I should know soon since I applied 8 days ago, and the estimated time for online work permit extensions is 7 days, though I checked and the status is still Open. Guess I shouldn't worry as I read that even if they don't decide on the OWP extension when this expires that I can just continue working provisionally. I just might have a problem if I leave Canada after this OWP expires and then try to re-enter. I have a trip to Pittsburgh coming up in October, but I will be returning on 17 October and my current OWP will still be valid, though I would prefer if I had my new one in hand just in case CBSA has concerns that there are just two weeks left on it.
