I would like to conduct a roll call of all inland PR applicants from the Caribbean who have received DM.

If Port of Spain, TnT were the visa office credited for your country for CIC criminality and security checks, how long was wait between AIP and DM?

Thanks

Hi everyone,

Quick question for anyone who can answer. My hubby's PR is currently in progress. He has an OWP and is currently working. We need to leave Canada for 1 week. Does anyone have any experience leaving while application is in progress? My MP said it should be fine as long as we are only going for 1 week (and also have valid passport and work permit) however I am nervous. Has anyone left and came back?

Where is hubby from and where are you going? I left for about 2 weeks while my application was in progress, before I even had my OWP, and I was allowed back in with no problem. I'm from the U.S. and that's where we went...
We just made sure to take EVERYTHING with us: Marriage certificate, Visitor's Visa (or OWP in your case), I printed out the status page from the CIC website that said that my application was in progress, proof of our address (mortgage, etc.), various forms of I.D. in addition to our passports and driver's licenses, etc...
We didn't leave anything to chance but ended up only really needing our passports and marriage certificate (when we crossed over to the U.S. due to my last name being different than his to prove his relationship to me).

Hi Rachel!

Thank you for responding. My husband is from Japan. We are gonig to Dominican for my sisters wedding. We will be going for 1 week. I will be sure to bring all supporting documentation with us in case they have any questions!

I don't think that it should be a big issue, to be honest... I mean, I suppose it's always a bit of a risk but as long as you do everything that you can to prepare for anything that might come up, it should be fine.

I'd also take the wedding invitation if you have one, to show Canada border agents when you come back through why you left, or at least try and have your sister write something up for you before you leave. Better safe than sorry. :)

Have a good time!

So how long does it take you get landing letter from Hamilton office? I am also landing in Hamilton, I got my DM on April 9, 2014.?
What kind of questions do they ask? How long do you have to wait there?

Does everyone gets an interview?

Everyone have a small quick interview at every landing appointment. They basically asked the same questioned you answered in your application. Sign the COPR and you are done. You become PR. Easy peasy.

I am all done with my interview and I am officially a PR now. ;D Kind if annoying that I had to drive over 4 hours there for what ended up being a 5 minute interview, but at least it's all over now.

They said that the current wait time for getting PR cards is about two months, though. Anyone gotten theirs recently that can confirm?

Congrats on your landing and becoming PR. According to timesheet, PR card arrived somewhere between 47-67 days, at least according to those who gotten theirs recently.

Question:
Are there many applicants continuing to wait more then 5-6 months for the Vancouver office to schedule a landing appointment?

We're quickly approaching 9 months now and the call centre said they can't do anything more then send out referrals every 3 months. This is ridiculous!
