How long does background check takes, like seriously almost everyone is done with thier application and this is the 10 months for me since I got my AIP , arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I call and they keep on saying they re working on background verification . Does this takes forever ? Looks like am the only one waiting for DM . Lord help your son.

I am the person who has one of the longest 2nd stages in 2012 applications (11.5 months) so I hope and wish yours will not break my record.

We went to the local office to see whether we could speed things up a bit. The Immigration officer wasn't in but we left details with the security officer and she left a note on the officers desk. By the time we got home there was a message from the IO that our landing appointment is tomorrow!

Hello people, i think i have the new record, 12 months after AIP and still going, no DM, when I call it`s always background check not finished, so frustating..

The Agent told my wife to phone them again after 4 months after getting DM and then they can put a request in to the local office and inquire on the status of the landing appointment. That will be December 18th for us.

On the day of our first stage interview the Officer told us we woudn't get my husbands PR before January for sure... and she said at the same time that she's gonna need his FBI Cert which they need by January 25th. after we send that in I don't know how long more it'll take for my hubby to get his PR.. We were hoping he'll get it by March... 2 years later after I applied for him.... Sigh.................

In contrast to yours, there is not a red flag or anything like that with my application. During the second stage which took ~ 11.5 months, sometimes I wondered why the background checking process took so long and thought the reason could be the strike so there are too many backlogs. Now CIC tells me that the Vancouver office can take up to 6 months to call me for the landing interview, if not, call them back. :'(

I don't know why they take so long to process background process... but I guess first stage is clearing the Sponsor and 2nd stage is the applicant... so I'm cleared and now their working on clearing my husband... and you said it took you 11.5 months for the 2nd stage??? but shouldn't it take no more than 6 months because thats what I was told by our Officer who did our interview that CIC gives us a time frame of 8 months but sends us a landing letter in 4 to 6 months after AIP/DM if everything is cleared...

Haven't been on in a while so a lot of news to catch up on. It looks from the spreadsheets that those of us landing in Calgary have a while to wait after DM. Has anyone called in to CIC to find out an eta on landing date letter? Last time I called my file hadn't even been transferred yet.

Hi - I got AIP and DM on November 7th. My landing letter was issued from the Calgary office on November 12th stating that i'll be landing on January 8th. I got the letter in the mail day before yesterday. I really hope you get your landing date soon.

We waited more than 5 months after DM (early May) for our landing letter to arrive in the mail (mid Oct) for landing appointment in late Oct at the Vancouver office.
So the wait was long and we did call once. But they just told us to keep waiting and call back if we don't hear from them in 6 months.

I had thought only Calgary Office is very busy but it seems to me that every office is busy... that is a long wait... have you received anything now?

Good thing you guys find out!!! Good luck with the landing process. It should be very easy.

Hi everyone, I am new to the forum so i would like some advice. I am in Canada and is currently been sponsored by my wife, my ecas is currently at Decision Made as i've went through all the prior procedures. I've recently got an email stating that i should pay the ROPR fee of $490 and that i should fax CIC Scarborough a clear copy of my passport, assuming that this is a good sign i am wondering what is the next step and how long will it take for me to landed?

Wow! Wowho, congratulations canuck2k! Could you please teach me what and how you did (such as what did you say and write in the note to the security officer?) in order to get the landing appointment?

P/S: Is it possible that although CIC has not sent the landing letter yet, CIC can still make the landing appointment via phone call or email? Is that official ?

Neither am I. I got AIP in September 2012 so DM should be supposed to be around May or June 2013 (8 months). However, after that I kept calling and asked CIC that now my 2nd stage was 11 months which passed 8 months shown on their website. CIC always told me that they were working on checking background.

I thought the only reason should be the strike, but when I asked CIC, the agent told me that it should not affect inland applications and 8 to 11 months were NORMAL because 8-month time frame was just an average number !?

Hi everyone.

Just an update: got my AIP+DM+OWP on Nov' 7th
Today i received a letter inviting me for a landing interview on December 13th in Hamilton
Soon to be PR ;D :D
