Hi everyone!!!!

Just got word from my consultant! We got AIP and DM letters in the mail today!!!!!! dated Oct 21st for both.
yayyyyy.

Congrats Nessasary on getting your AIP and DM. Where are you landing? I assume it will be Etobicoke since you live in mississauga.

Hey guys!

I would like your opinion on something. I did not send my medicals with my application, since I didn't want them to expire. Now that my date is getting closer (January 2013), I was wondering if I should send them now or wait until I get my AIP and they request it from me. Also, if you don't mind me asking, how much did those of you in Toronto pay for the Medicals? Thank you in advance! ;D

Hey, I wanted to do this as well but CIC are advising against it. They say either send it in when you first send your application or send it when asked for.

Apparently the reason for this is that they may "lose" your application and that it "may not be matched up to your file" some doctors will tell you this as well.

After seeing everyone get AIP and DM at the same time it sure is tempting but personally I decided not to risk it being lost.

While it is a valid concern about misplacing your medical records. I thought medicals are now done electronically as in emedical. We didn't have to go through eMedical and some people are now getting medical done via eMedical nowadays. So how can the electronic medical get misplaced if UIC number is assigned to it.

Thank you so much everyone! I'm happy to know that the medicals won't cost me a fortune (I hope not lol). I sure have a lot of thinking to do. We'll see what the hubs thinks about it. Although now I'm not to sure if I want to take any chances. LOL Anyways thank you again and congrats to all of those that have been getting such great news this week! And for all of us still waiting, hang in there! The is a light at the end of this crazy tunnel.

OMG! I must tell you I didn't go to the office of 'RAMQ'. :P
<an excuse> They say that 'First, you must call the Régie or visit an office of the Régie during office hours to obtain a registration form.' I'll call soon! ;)

okay so this is the manitoba health form. http://www.gov.mb.ca/health/mhsip/forms/eregistration.pdf

do i just attach copies of my AIP and DM to it?

called them. i need to either apply under my OWP while I wait for my PR card, or apply once I have the PR card in hand. once I have that, I can apply and be approved on the spot if i go into their offices.

Obviously the quebec procedure is different in getting paperwork for health coverage. Like I said, I don't know what quebec does to get stuff done. Here in ontario, we can walk up to any Ontario service, and apply on the spot.

Would you get coverage on the spot or still have to wait 3 months after landing? There is a difference between being approved on the spot and actually get coverage on the spot.

According to manitoba health website, you get coverage 3 months after you arrive. So you would not get coverage on day of applying. You would get coverage 3 months after your landing date. Unfortunately, manitoba health only accept PR card and/or OWP. AIP or DM letter do not qualify.
