I have been checking this website for some time, and decided to put a post on today. My initial application was sent in August 2012. I got AIP in May of this year.

When can I call CIC to ask for a progress report, due to the strike would you guys recommend waiting until the end of January 2014.

14 months on I am losing the will to wait.

What are your thoughts and what is the best number to call to check on my application. I also used a lawyer so will they talk to either the spouse or applicant.

Just call the CIC phone center. The strike is over, call anytime to ask.

Knowing my husband to be... He will be a comedian...

let's hope not!

It means you are to become a permanent resident.

Unfortunately, CIC probably won't have much to tell you. If you received AIP in May 2013, then it has been five months. Stage two processing is listed on the website at 8 months. Generally, CIC states you should call only if you have exceeded the expected processing time.

Perhaps ordering GCMS notes would shed some light on where they are with your application?

Received my landing interview time today

November 5, 2013 at Vancouver office at 1pm

DM on October 3. Thought I was in a for. 5-6 month wait...

Hopefully I will be completed with PR card in hand by end of 2013....

From app received to landing 1 year and 1 month..

I was *quite* glad my darling husband didn't decide to be a comedian that morning! Of course, he's so spoiled, he might starve to death if anything ever happens to me, so he probably didn't want to jeopardize the magic that makes food magically appear in front of him (and magically makes clean laundry appear in the drawers, and magically keeps the house clean, and puts groceries in the fridge, and etc.). :-D

Lol. I'm hoping my hubby doesn't decide to be a comedian either. He especially wouldn't like the magic of food disappearing. He enjoys it too much. Lol.

OCWP = Off Campus Work Permit - issued to full-time university students allowing you to work for any employer off-campus for a maximum of 20 hours / week during fall and winter semester and 40hours / week during spring and summer
OWP = Open Work Permit- you can work for an employer in Canada for a maximum of 40 hours / week

I checked my status online, it says "decision made", and they sent me a letter on 20th Oct., but I haven't received any emails....So nervous...Is there anyone who only received AIP by mail, but not email?

By the way, here is the timeline

We received your application to sponsor (my husband's name )on December 3, 2012.

We started processing your application on January 18, 2013.

We sent you a letter on October 20, 2013 about the decision on your application. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.

My application for Alberta Health was just denied. And they told my husband I need PR first. Even though their website clearly states all I need is a positive first decision on permanent residency. So we are going to try again. This time with my OWP and DM letters. I'll keep you all informed.
