Hi everybody, my file was sent on October 2011 Aip on August 22, 2012, it will be one year this 22nd since I received my AIP. On July 2 and 11 they sent two separate emails asking for the copy of my child birth certificate and updated work history. First one I Sent on July 3 and the second one was sent out July 13, according to my tracking numbers it was received by vegreville. I called today, agent told me it wasnt in my file. How long before it shows up in my file. Oh myyyy. Its almost 2 years... my Grandfather asking me to come home to see him for the last time, but I couldnt now he's gone. My children didnt even hug him. And now my parents asking me again to come home they are sick, and weak . Oh God help these agents to do their job fast. ...

I am so sorry they are taking this long for you. It seams like we are walking down a similar road. I don't understand why they wait so unbelievable long before they request for more information. They did the same with us. Just when we were expecting the AIP, we got a request for more information.....and now we have waited double time for our AIP. It took them close to 2 months to register our additional letter, after we sent it to them. They registered it in Feb 2013, and we still haven't got our AIP.....so it seams like we ended up last in line again, due to their request. I wish you the best and hope they get going with your application right away as soon as the register the information you sent. And Im so sorry for your lost. Oh this game they are playing with us, makes me so sad :'(

Can you please direct me to this rule?

If you call CIC and talk to an agent, they will tell you. I have talked to them at least 3 times about just that rule. Makes me crazy sometimes, to miss my grown up kids back home....and in those moments I have called and hoped for a different answer.....but nope.....still the same. If you leave, there is a chance you will be denied to come back....and if you are, your application is gone >:(

Things to remember

A foreign national cannot become a permanent resident in Canada if he or she is inadmissible for reasons other than lack of legal immigration status in Canada.
A temporary resident permit (TRP) holder is inadmissible unless the circumstances that lead to the issuance of the TRP are resolved.

The person being sponsored must resolve the circumstances that resulted in the inadmissibility before submitting an application for permanent residence.

Refer to the guide for temporary resident permit holders:

Applying to Remain in Canada as a Temporary Resident Permit Holder (IMM 5554).

The family class is aimed at faster processing of spouse or common‑law partner applications from applicants outside Canada.
Processing times for spouses or common‑law partners in Canada are generally longer.

The person being sponsored can apply to a visa office outside Canada to take advantage of the family class processing standard. Processing times for applications processed in Canada are posted on our Web site.

Processing times may be longer if the principal applicant has dependent family members outside Canada that are included in the application for permanent residence.
The person being sponsored will not be granted permanent residence until family members have been examined and have passed medical, background and security requirements.

Dependent children include children in the custody of a former spouse or common‑law partner.
The person being sponsored should resolve any child custody disputes before submitting an application.

Leaving Canada can automatically cancel temporary resident status as a visitor, student or worker.
The person being sponsored has no guarantee that he or she will be permitted to return or reenter Canada if he or she leaves before permanent residence is approved. This is especially true if a Temporary Resident Visa is required to enter Canada.

Applications in this category cannot be transferred to immigration offices outside Canada.
The person being sponsored will have to submit a new application to the Case Processing Centre in Mississauga (CPC‑M) if he or she cannot return to Canada.

Under 5.14: Requirements to be granted permanent residence in the spouse or common-law partner in- Canada class
A potential sponsor meets requirements to be a sponsor

Under R130, a sponsor must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident who
• is at least 18 years of age;
resides in Canada [refer to IP 2, Section 5.10 if R130(2) applies].

A foreign national meets the membership requirements of the spouse or common-law
partner in Canada class [R124]

• if they are the spouse or common-law partner of a sponsor (as defined in R130) and cohabits
with that sponsor in Canada;

• if they have temporary resident status;

• if they are the subject of a sponsorship application;

• if they are not excluded from the class under R125 concerning excluded relationships (see
section 5.26).

By combining the two requirements, it basically says the applicants must remain in Canada since the sponsor must resides in Canada to apply inland sponsorship.

GimmeThatPR,

I hope that these will help you clarify your thoughts on the rule requirements of Inland Sponsorship.

Your friend's wife can apply for OWP anytime after she received her AIP status, even before her post graduate work work permit expires. Since she had a valid work permit prior to sponsorship, she would be under "implied work permit status" so she, in theory, can continue to work. However since her work is a post graduate work permit, not 100% sure if this is the same as "regular" work permit. Nonetheless, I don't see any harm in applying for OWP as this would allow her to work anywhere outside the post graduate work permit. So the sooner she applies for OWP, the sooner she gets it before her current post grad work permit expires. I read on thesÉ postings that applying online for OWP tends to go faster than paper route.

Hi Screech39, I am sorry I haven't updated the rest of my info with you, I come from Bulgaria, I live in Niagara Falls, I have applied to Vegreville office, hoping soon to get an AIP, the process is really draining, and I may be passing an opportunity for a promotion/new job very shortly too thanks to this long process. :'( How come they were moving so quickly at the beginning of the year and then they stopped :((I know about the strike and all but...did every officer stopped working I wonder?!?)...just venting...I congratulate everyone on the DMs and AIPs and interviews and I wish for all of us that are still waiting a quicker process with less setbacks. Anyone who applied in November (16th) I will be waiting to see who gets their AIP first :). Best of luck to everyone!

Hey guys I have a question!!
I know non accompanying children on inland spousal
application have to do a medical which is normally
requested by CIC. Is it possible to hv the non
accompanying child do their medical by a
Cic recognized doctor (in home county)
and submit the receipt to cic before its requested??

Screech339

My PGWP expired last year in september and I had applied for an OWP with my spousal sponsorship before the expiry of my PGWP
and my lawyer said I am on implied status and I havent got my AIP yet and its almost a year since I have been working on implied status.

And also since I qualify for CEC .
I have applied for CEC as well in the meantime.

Is anybody who got AIP this week?

It's time for cic to start working again.
They seem to have vacation time for 4 month from April..
I want to get OWP soon.
Otherwise another stoppage will happen from Dec to Jan for Christmas and New year holiday.

I think fully operating for 6 month and slowly for 6 month
What a nice organization..:D

I called cic about my PR card that i still have not received. The agent said that there was a glitch in the system and my card was not requested automatically so now they sent a note for somebody to request the cards manually and might take at least a month. The thing is im travelling overseas by the end of september and if card dont arrive yet i'll have to apply for a travel document to reenter to Canada in the country where ill be at.
Any advise ? This is really inconvinient.

Hi guys I received my pr card sometime towards the end of july, around the 20th. And for those of u wanting to travel before receiving their card, you have nothing to worry about. I travelled to my country in June and stayed for a little over 2 weeks, applied for pr travel document which was given to me within 2 days. I had no troubles entering Canada with that document.

That's great news on the travel document timing. Did you go to Canadian embassey or consulate to request it?
