@ DaleandMonica,

I feel sooooo sorry that you have not yet gotten AIP after you filed your app. on June, 2012.
It's over 1 year and I am confused why it took so long for CIC not to issue you a AIP.....
It's totally not fair !!!

I could sense how you felt bad and I truly hope you get your AIP A.S.A.P......

They say its because of the requested document in Jan 2013. But still....it makes me nervous anyway. I just hope it isn't because they found a reason to maybe turn us down. That's what is so scary right now, with all this time delay -biting my nails-

If I were in your shoes, while I can understand the nervousness, I wouldn't be so concerned. They have got to have a very good reason to turn it down. So far from what I have read about your situtation, they have no justification/ground to turn you down.

Oh thank you dear.....so very very much -hugs-

I've been thinking. I've heard that you go back to the beginning of the waiting list, if they request a document. And that is what they say happened to us. If they got the requested doc in the beginning of Feb.....its 6 months ago now exactly. Maybe that's why the agent said Aug 5 will be the day. Maybe that day was the 6 month day, since they received the requested doc. Trying to make sense of it all. Well if that is the case....there should be a decision any day now

When you land, your OWP is no longer valid anymore. You can still leave Canada so long as you come back in your own private car.

Commerical transportation like train/buses/planes will not accept COPR as id and will only accept PR card to allow you back into Canada. This is to avoid a heavy fine from Canada if they get caught letting a person without proper docs to Canada.

I assume I could always apply for a travel document for permanent residents abroad. It cost $50 though.

You can get a travel document but who is to say that you will get it in time for your flight back. I know a dutch PR that lost his passport while on vacation. He had to get a new passport he couldn't get a travel document despite having PR. He had to get a canada visa to re-enter Canada. Not sure why he had to get a visa as I thought dutch can enter Canada visa free. He was born in pakistan but has dutch citizenship.

wow....Im looking at the sheet......its hardly anyone who have waited as long as we for AIP. Is it normal to wait this long and this much extra time, just because they requested a document?

There are some who have waited more than 9 months mainly due to the october 8th stuck for 3 months. So instead of waiting 6 months. They end up waiting 9 months.

Interesting. I assume that would be something to ask at the landing interview. The processing times for a travel document at the visa office I would have to apply to are 14 days. Also, I read you can apply for urgent processing (3 weeks) of your PR card if you provide the proper travel documentation/proof.

You can apply for urgent processing but remember the embassies staff are on strike. Think about the backlog of applications due to strike. Do you honestly think they will be caught up by the time you travel overseas and apply for travel docs in home country? I wouldn't trust them to get your travel docs in time

Oki. I guess we got stuck there with them too....somehow. Its sure hard to relax and see everyone pass us by, without worrying that something is wrong. But I will try to relax now. And get back to life, instead of being eaten up by this process. Thank u so much for all support in here. It means everything to us.

I applied on september 27 last year, They requested for more proofs on march 20th and we gave them by mid-April , and then they requested more documents on May 19th and we submitted them on july 29th.

So I guess for you they didnot need anymore documents and you should receive your AIP any day!!

Good luck!

@GimmiethatPR
Did you apply as common law or married spouse?

common - law

@DaleandMonica

I think if they requested all additional info then they don't start counting the months until they receive all the requested info.
Thats what happened to use. We sent app in January 2012 but on eCas it shows as app received May 31. thats when they sent the client history update form because we moved and changed jobs.
So we lost 5 months and it took nearly 11 months to get AIP.

When we called regarding Stage II the call centre agent said our 8 months is not due until August 15th, because they didn't receive the police certificate until Dec 15th
