I am glad you thought it was funny!!!! I really want to go, and had always wanted to be chosen too, but... not knowing how long the trial will be and only being on one income, I am going to decline and claim financial hardship. Hopefully they will ask me again another time!

Make sure you are a registered voter! That is where they pull your name from!

Yea, that's true - who can afford a lengthy trial now a days! :/ I hadn't thought of that! I've been a registered voter since I was 18...about 25 years now. Meh..... I've been playing lotto 649 for about as long and never been drawn for that either, sigh......... the story of my life! :( lol

@Liz1986

I believe you need to be there as well. One of the reason is they may ask you questions as well. One of this question may be "do you wish to continue with the sponsorship?". Plus they may want to make sure that the sponsor is alive and well. So you are just as important to show up at interview.

this is what I did and I got my OWP last week

go to http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/index-int.asp and click on Apply on-line in the left hand menu
then select "work permit - new or extended" and click go
on the next page click "register/login" near the bottom right of the page
on the next page click the option for sign in, I used "GCKey Log in"
on the next page you can select the link to register a new GCKey if you haven't already got one or you can log-in using your GCkey
once logged in you can click accept the terms and conditions and complete your security question
on the next page you can start the process by clicking "apply online"
this will open up options for what you would like to do. since you're already in Canada you'll be able to extend your stay, apply for a work permit, new or extended or study permit.

I hope this helps...

Hey , Just some info for the ones who waiting for the Landing letter.
My local office just sent me a letter that i have to pay the Right of PR fee!
They DO NOT schedule an appointment before i pay it online and i send them the receipt by mail :/

Did anyone go into the local cic office without appointment? Do they still have a walk in service?
I think i'll try to drop off the receipt...

Hello gjfst!

I did the payment the next day I got my DM nad sent a copy to CIC in Alberta, I received a letter from my CIC office (Montreal) yesterday with the instructions for pictures and a form to confirm my information, and apparently once they receive this I'll get the appointment... Did you receive some instructions as well?? You can always call CIC and see if you can ask to which office do you need to send it, and to make thins faster, send it by mail on xpresspost it arrives next day (A bit more expensive but faster and safer). As far as I know you can not pass by the office and drop the documents at least not in Montreal, but each office is different.

Hope it helps!!

I am hungry.

For those that received their landing date/appointment letters from the local CIC offices. Do they also indicate the time of appointment along with the day of landing?

Just wondering if you have to show up an hour before scheduled time or show up early in the morning to get first in line for landing interview. No point in showing up at 8am only to wait for hours for your actual appointment.

My wife's letter for landing stated the date and time. It also said that I as the sponsor must be there and to bring her passport, 2 pictures, and all documents issued by CIC with relation to her status in Canada.

@rusty

Thanks for the info. Good to know. Adding expected time makes sense. It would help avoid the 7am line up outside the CIC office.

In my letter indicates date and for time it says from 9-11.30 or 1-2.30pm. We are going after lunch and I believe just stay in a line and wait for our turn.
