So now I can get on with the OWP, figtoria - I have sent off for the receipt to pay at the bank, thanks for the link. I will fill out the forms and have them ready to print and mail as soon as the payment receipt arrives.

Thanks for all the congrats, feeling good now the medical is out of the way :)

Great! FYI - I got the receipt we ordered by mail today! It took about 10 days, I guess, not bad really.

I'm going to courier the OWP app tonight. Exciting! On the other hand, to be honest, I'm going to miss my full-time housekeeper and cook when he does start work! LOL! I know he'll be happier though. :)

I have to mail the OWP form but can I pay online or do I need to wait for the receipt to pay at the bank? I paid online with the residency fees, maybe better to do it all together and just mail it off, thanks for the help

Yes you can pay online and then just print the receipt and send it with your open work permit application.

Can i be added to the speadsheet?? App received at CIC Vegreville on Nov 8th, Email from CIC on January 4th and currently waiting first stage approval and open work permit all which were sent with application...(as well as medical check and police certificates)
Only thing im concerned about is we applied for restoration after spouse app was sent in. Scared they may process the OWP before the restoration app has been processed and I am not too sure whether they will grant OWP when he currently has no status :S anyone been denied OWP for any reason???

Inland applications are permitted for an application who is out-of-status as a matter of public policy. Even without status they would process the OWP, thus returning the applicant to being in-status.

If they get to the restoration of status application AFTER the OWP is granted, they will refund the restoration of status fee to you, as the restoration application will not be appropriate given the circumstances.

@Computergeek
seems to me that you paid Vegreville a visit because the AIP's are coming, coming and coming so quickly. Im seeing AIPs coming in even less than 5 months. Seems to me you know Minister Kenny quite well :D ;D

Having taken Mr. Kenny to court once, I'm sure any knowledge he has of me - however cursory - is not positive.

I am glad to see Vegreville lowering their own backlog. I'll be impressed when CPC-V can get a first stage application done in the same amount of time as CPC-M (CPC-M is now posting at 21 days for first stage approval.)

@computergeek
I dont see the sense in CPC-M completing first stage so quickly but when it goes to the VO overseas there are some ridiculous waiting period ranging from 17-30 months in some instances.

For my application it took as long to get sponsor approval as it did to get applicant approval, but yes, I hear you. I'd fully expected my application to take 18-24 months due to the refusal of my first (FSW) application.

I'm just hoping the increased speed of the first stage doesn't mean the 2nd stage will be longer.

:-X

is it common for the wait for AIP, now at 5 months, to stay steady for a while????

@figtoria let's all hope that second stage gets reduced to 4 month or that both stages are concluded together

One year ago it was 11-12 months. Between August 2012 and October 2012 it dropped from 11 months to 5.5-6 months, then rose to 6 months.

CIC claimed that the slowdown was due to a change in computer systems. This would mean the FOSS to GCMS transition. I suspect that some of this is because the transition is done (it was supposed to be done last year) and they are now gaining the benefits of the new system.
