You are still on the spreadsheet. Line 112.

Spreadsheet updated. Wow lots of good news! Keep it coming everyone!

@SunSun.......when I saw your profile name I suddenly remembered one of my favorite books from high school, called "My Father Sun Sun Johnson." I really hope that it will be enough because if they called for other supporting details we will have to send them the same thing. Even for question 12 of the Questionnaire we sent them about 12 pages of responses. Anything we though they could ask we made the question and provided them with the answer

Congrats CanED and Hamedsilent!

Awesome news ;)

Hi,Jiggy.. Well.. it is not my real name but at least there was a book called sunsun..Lol.. I also think the same way like you, how about if CIC officer asks more documents? What should I provide to him/her? What about if...so many "If" in my mind right now. So you came from Jamaica, right ? Do you know where can I buy Jamaica coffee in Ontario? I want to try it.. :)

Hi Sun Sun,

I live in Mississauga and I shop at this Chinese place I saw coffee there but I dont think its real Jamaican Coffee. I am going to ask my mom to send me some from Jamaica. And yes I am from Jamaica. I will definitely share some with you.

CanED and Hamedsilent!!! So nice to share this moment of excitment with you. Congratulations!!!!

I am also excited we are also Sept. AIP.

I hope it means we are not far behind.... ;D

I just got off the phone with CIC because I have never been able to access ecas. She showed me what I was doing wrong but also told me that they are experiencing difficulty with the system and it is not operating properly at this time. So even though she helped me to enter the correct information I was still unable to gain access. She said that they hoped to have it resolved soon. On a side note she told me that my wife's medicals have been approved and criminal checks completed and approve, the only thing left is the background check. I am assuming that this means that they now need to check to see if our relationship and story are true. Somehow I feel so much better today. I know our marriage is built on love and respect for each other and I am sure that whoever reads our story at CIC will be jealous of our love. HA!

Hey Rusty that is awsome. I am happy you got that all sorted out. I think background check they just check the background of the applicant and there family maybe to make sure they are who they say they are and that all the information they provided is true. I found this in a google search :D

Background checks verify that the applicant is not involved in terrorism, gang activity, organized crime, etc. These are all "undesirable" activities but I've never heard of anyone failing them (I'm sure they do, they just aren't reporting it in the forums.)

Is there a precise distinction between criminal check and background check?

Yes. It turns out that things like being a war criminal or terrorist don't necessarily show up in your police checks. CSIS is primarily responsible, though I'm told CBSA also has some involvement.

I know that for my application the security checks came back the same day they were requested - they redact the date information in my GCMS notes, but the actual entries are in chronological order and the entry before and after are for the same date - thus security was approved as well. I suspect, but do not know, that this is due to the fact that I'd previously been investigated and I'd been living in Canada since that previous investigation.

For some countries (Iran is one I've seen hitting people) this can take a VERY long time to complete.
