This forum has been good . When I read people's progress I know mine is coming soon. Congrat to all who got good news already and good luck to all of us still waiting . 11 months since AIP sigh . I know my due date on the Gcms says February 22 2014 . I just hope something happen soon. When ecas shows medical received does anyone know how long it's going to take to get DM . My ecas changed to medical received sometime in December or November .

Dear Screech and other friends in this forums :

My cousin received the following letter from CIC - is this AIP (just wondering) or do we have to wait for AIP to apply for OWP ?

This confirms that your application to Sponsor a Member of the
family class has been received by CIC on xxxx/xx/xx on behalf of

That is aor, not aip. Yes if the application is inland you must wait for aip.

It depends really on the timing of the expected baby arrival time. If you are landing before the baby arrives, then you don't have to do anything.

If the baby is due to arrive before you land, you must inform CIC so that they can add the baby to the COPR. If the baby is being born within Canada (I'm assuming this since you posted this in the "inland" thread) you need to add baby to COPR, not as a PR sponsor but as a Canadian dependent. You may have to delay the landing until after baby is born.

If you don't add baby to COPR before landing, you could be charged for misrepresentation, even though the baby will be Canadian and doesn't need to be sponsor. Kind of hard to stand in front of CIC agent with a newborn in your hand and COPR does not list the newborn.

Hi - I went through this. Found out i'm pregnant mid immigration process and this is what I've been told... "CIC only cares if the baby is born alive. " So, I did not notify CIC as my landing date turned out to be earlier than my expected due date. During my landing they only cared if we had dependents outside of Canada and they could clearly see I'm 8 months pregnant... Call the call center to find out if you need to fill out the financial form if the baby is born before the due date. I doubt it given that the baby will be born a Canadian Citizen...

When the baby is born after you land, CIC doesn't care. Has no bearing on the case. However if the baby is born before you land, that may be an issue, even though the baby is Canadian citizen. The status of your condition has changed before you land, thus CIC is needed to be informed of this.

I hope you all have landed or gotten DM's at least!!

I have a question, CIC has asked for my fingerprints, which I am doing Friday. Can anyone tell me how long it took to get DM after you sent in your fingerprints?

All the best,

You are obligated to inform them (and the best thing to do is update your supplemental information form where you list non-immigrating children) but it won't make any difference to the processing of your application.

Sadly, transfer to a local office is usually the start of a long wait. I'm not sure what the anticipated time is for Edmonton, but I know for Calgary they estimate 12 months before your file is even reviewed once it is received by that office.

I would suggest that you (or your sponsor) order electronic case notes in order to learn why the file was referred to a local office. If this was before AIP, it usually indicates concerns about the relationship. After AIP, it usually indicates concerns about the applicant.

I feel your pain all too well. I am at just over 10 months since AIP. I called to ask why it has been that long even though the estimates are for DM within 8 months. They said it is 8 months for 80% of the applications. I do wonder if that's just the "party line" or if they are just running behind on everyone's apps. I was also told that the last time my file was reviewed was in Sept 2013 and that the call center cannot review the file again until 7 months have passed. So, nothing to do but wait until they contact me i guess.

I really thought the process, though time-consuming, would go smoothly but now I'm getting nervous. Nothing weird about my situation, inland app for spousal sponsorship from usa. We even had an attorney review our apps before sending to make sure everything was ok.

Here is what I have so far, so feel free to add me to the spreadsheet if you like.

AOR-Sep 20, 2012
AIP- Mar 8, 2013 (OWP received with letter)
Medical records sent and received (acknowledged around June 2013)
FBI letter sent Nov 2012 (no acknowledgement from CIC though)
Fingerprints sent Mar 2013 (no acknowledgement of receipt either)

I do have confirmation of receipt at Vegreville via Canada Post for both the FBI letter and the fingerprints.

Has the sponsor contacted the MP for the riding in which you live and asked for assistance? Members of Parliament can be helpful in situations like yours.
