Hello Everyone...

I've been very quiet in this forum, however been coming here almost every week to stay grounded, not lose my patience and also be updated on the status on all of your application. And most important of all to be able to keep my sanity during this long, tedious process. And for that reason, I sincerely thank every one of you for that.

Also, Congratulations on all of you who have either had your first stage approved, both stages approved, been landed, become PRs, or anybody who's had a significant progress on your application.

This has been a real waiting game for us. We applied inland, even though our life circumstances didn't allow us to stay put more than a few months. But after traveling in and out of country several times this past year and having faced with a great deal of stress every single time we had to re-enter Vancouver, (nothing happened and every time we were greeted by an extremely nice and understanding officer), today I finally received THE letter.

My application to sponsor my husband was filed on December 24, 2012 and CIC began processing it February 1, 2013. I applied for OWP at the same time.

This morning I received an email as follows:

"You have met the requirements for eligibility as a sponsor. The Application for Permanent Residence will be processed separately and the applicant will hear from this office shortly."

and my husband received the following email few minutes later:

"This letter refers to your application for permanent residence under the spouse or common-law partner in Canada class.
It has been determined that you meet the eligibility requirements to apply for permanent resident status as a member of the spouse or common-law partner in Canada class.
We are pleased to advise you that processing of your application has been completed. The Canada Immigration Centre in Vancouver will contact you concerning your permanent resident status."

And regarding his OWP:

"Your application for a work permit has been approved and your new document(s) will be sent to you separately. You are authorized to remain in Canada under the conditions listed on the document(s)."

So my question to you all is, does this mean that both stage 1 (sponsorship) and stage 2 (permanent resident application) have been processed and approved? It doesn't say anywhere that we will be called for interview, but only we will be contacted "concerning your permanent resident status". What does this mean? And do you know how Vancouver office contact us (email, phone, etc.)? Any pointers/ideas as to what is expected next at this point would really help us plan our lives within the next few months...

Many thanks

Anabanana1983
Congrats Anabanana1983 on getting AIP, OWP and DM all the same time.

****WARNING STRONG LANGUAGE RANT******

I am starting to get seriously bummed out again. Hubby got his AIP on Oct 28. They didn't send me a damned thing. Last time I called, around Nov 1 the rep then told me I had to wait 2 weeks because there was a letter in my file that had not yet been mailed. She would not give me the details of that letter. I have been calling for the last 2 days now. I go through all the song and dance and it rings once then tells me it was unable to connect me with a rep and then hangs up on me.

How the hell am I supposed to contact them and let them know I haven't received anything via email/snail mail/air mail or any other method? GRRR. I just really really really really and I do mean REALLY despise this entire process. I've been sitting on my ass for over a year now. I am about ready to throw in the towel, sell the damned house and hubby and I move back to the states. He has a nice retirement income and no desire to work so even if the US decided to wait 10 flippin years to finalize his paperwork it wouldn't matter.

*stomps her feet and fumes some more about stupid ass gov't red tape*

How damned hard can it be to say: Let's have a very stable way we do this. We email them, then we slip the letter in an envelope and mail it to their address on file. Somewhere along the lines you just KNOW some idiot said oh no way, that would be entirely to intelligent. We are the gov't and don't want to accidentally portray a sense of intelligence. *sighs*

That is an assumption as there are a couple who haven't gotten their AIP yet like nairaboy and yyyyyyzyq. But it is a safe assumption based only on the timesheet in this forum. They could have gotten theirs and haven't given back any feedback to the forum for updates. Remember the list is a very small sample pool out of the total 2012 applicants. I am sure there are quite a few 2012 applicants still out there waiting for AIP not listed in timesheets.

There is no way to speed it up for first time PR cards. Everyone gets the same timeline. Only time you can speed it up is if you are re-applying for a new PR card.

Otherwise you would need to apply for a PRTD in your home country if you left before getting your PR card to re-enter Canada. Someone you trust could pick up your PR card while away and mail it to you (it is not recommended but you gotta do what you gotta do).

@Tomorisu

Sounds more complicated for living in Quebec...I wish you had your landing letter ASAP...thank you for replying me ;)

Tomorisu said:
Hi, sunflora. Not yet! I live in Quebec city. My local office is in Montreal. Montreal office is a bit different from other local offices. As long as reading previous posting, only Montreal office sends a letter to applicants to confirm some info (name, birthday, passport number, etc). Applicants in Quebec need to send back the letter to Montreal office with 2 photos for PR cards. After then, Montreal office sends another letter about the landing interview. Last week, I received a confirmation letter and sent it back. I'm waiting for next letter. I guess (and I hope) that I can land this month or next month.

Other local offices just send the letter about the landing interview to applicants.

It's up to the local offices how many days take to landing. I understand your feeling. But even if you go to Scarborough office, the local office is 'In-person help by appointment only'. I guess they will only tell you to wait.

2 of my friends provided cic that they booked their flights and they cant wait for the pr to arrive after 60 days.. Cic issued rush order for them. And i saw the emails back and forth between them and cic so i will try to get a copy and share it with you here
