Well, I finally called the immigration centre and since I am not legally authorized to check my hubby's status, she won't give me any information regarding the application. She said my part (as sponsor) is all done and there won't be any update on my side (that she can tell me). May be I can get my hubby to call them next week or so.
Wait…..

Does that mean if I want to inquire about anything to do with my husband’s (Applicants) section I would have to add myself as a Representative? (Use of a Representative Form??)

I was going to do that when I sent it in, but thought that would be ridiculous, since it’s OUR Application they should release info to either of us?!?

HAH! You are trying hard to apply logic in a logic free zone there ACS. :p Nothing CIC does is logical and certainly might be better run by those of us who still believe in that old fairy tale regarding logic! :)

Congrats everyone! Lots of good news here!!

Well, I finally called the immigration centre and since I am not legally authorized to check my hubby's status, she won't give me any information regarding the application. She said my part (as sponsor) is all done and there won't be any update on my side (that she can tell me). May be I can get my hubby to call them next week or so.

But she did tell me that there is a possible 5 - 6 months wait time at the Vancouver office for the landing interview. Well, I hope we will hear about our interview appointment soon. It's be almost 6 months! (DM back in May 8, update info faxed in Aug 22 for medical exam result extension)
I had the same issue regarding getting info on my wife's status. They won't give me any info on her status. So in order me for to get info on my wife's status, my wife would have to submit a representative form listing me as one of the authorized people to get her info. Kind of stupid as a sponsor, someone responsible for her for 3 years, can't get this info? It is not like we are dealing with sensitive issues like SIN, employment history. You would think sponsor would get the default authorization to applicant's simple info on their status. Nothing more.

It's interesting to me.
I used to think America and Canada governments are very close and work with similar systems.
But these days, I read some complaints from Americans about Canada's snail processing time :)

Wow…..so I really will need to send in Use of a Representative Form if I want to be able to contact them for info for my husband’s half of the Application?!???
Seriously…I think I want to apply for the job of Processing PRs once we are done this whole $%^&* process!!!
I’m sure at least 90% of us on this forum would do a better job than the CIC Officers….!!!!!!!

I think American governments might be a very very VERY close second to Canada's. I will however scream this one from the rooftops. Any of us who have lived in the US all our lives and dealt with our postal service and fussed and groused and made not so nice comments .. I would like to now OFFICIALLY rescind ALL of those comments and kiss the postal carriers of the USPS where they stand! I have never never NEVER seen anything like Canadas postal service. How DO YOU FOLKS put up with the crap they dish out?!?!? I mean TRULY! They want me to pay them $71 to mail a package to Pennsylvania from Windsor, ON?!?!? Are you JOKING?!?! Anyway, don't even get me started on the ridiculous prices and complete lack of service... sorry for any of you out here that work with Canada post, nothing personal, but my goodness none of you would survive working postal in the US ;) I have learned to buy my postage online with my US Post service account and I send my mail with my daughter back across the border to be sent out. That same package that was $71 in Canada, $5.70 US funds, 2 days door to door, thank you. LOL

Anyway, my apologies, AGAIN to any of you who work Canada Post. I really don't mean it personally! :D

I agree with you. The pricing for mail and delivery time at Canada Post is beyond ridiculous. Makes me wonder how they continue to survive nowadays. They have to innovate or get left behind and let some other company will do it for them.

I totally agree .
I can't even send maple syrup to my parents :D
Canadian people are too generous to public service workers.
If government workers are on strike action in my country, we will protest in front of the government building.
They already have permanent employment besides high salary.
I have lived in capitalism, communism and socialism countries.
There's no perfect government system except Canadian immigration process needs to fix a lot.
I wouldn't be surprised if they use MS-DOS in 2013. I hope NOT.

But in general, Canada is a good place to live.

Yes, imagine my despair when I found out they wanted $71 and some change to mail off 4 pieces of paper along with my passport to PA. It was bad enough they charged me 13.50 for a daggum money order. Then the guy was like, you don't want to send it to PA after all? Do you at least need some stamps? I was like, NOPE. I'll drive it to the destination myself, it will be cheaper. I had to work really hard to keep a straight face when I said that, but boy he couldn't keep a straight face and busted out laughing. Maybe he thought I was joking? LMAO!!

I should have known though. I sent an envelope with a check in it. JSUT A CHECK and piece of paper with my account information on it to pay off my car loan. I wanted it sent signature required. I did this last year some time, I forget exactly when. It had to get to TX (Texas for those of you who don't know). So, picture this. I have one envelope, 1 sheet of paper and a check in it. Tell her I need to send it signature required no time limit. I get charged $36.85 and it took them 27 days to get it there. I should point out. 23 days were spent on the Canadian side of the border. It went from Maidstone,ON (12 km outside Windsor, which is right on border with Detroit, MI USA) to London, On to Vancouver, to somewhere else, then into the states. It took them 23 days to get a piece of mail 12 km to a Canadian border. *snickers*

OK enough poking fun at them. I want my AIP dammit !!! LOL

Really? I ship things all the time and paid 12$ for a 1kg package of clothes arriving from BC to ON in a week. I paid about the same I think to get my application package signed for when it arrived.

Shipping is a bit worse here but I keep in mind that it is a way larger country.
