A medical and police check were not part of the document checklist, at least not in 2011 which is when we initially applied. The guide said they would contact us. I have just found out that they sent the letter about the DM to an address we haven't lived at for over a year. They didn't send it to the address that shows up online. So my question now is does that letter come by registered mail? I talked to CIC today and they said I can't request them to resend it until Aug 12th! I am wondering if they sent the request to the same address they sent the DM letter to? What is the point of updating your address online if they don't use it!!
I'm curious. What is it about your case that is unique. Everyone else here had to do medical and security checks. Yes, even in 2011 and 2010, etc.

What is different about your case?

From what I gather from your posting, it appears a case of CIC sending medical and police check letter requests to your old address that is listed on the application. Since you have not responded to CIC with document requests for police and medical by a certain deadline, they are assuming you are abandoning the sponsorship. That may explain you getting a DM (refusal) before your medical/police check are done. You need to get on CIC's case and ask them if they have the correct address. Not sure what to tell you as if they had the correct address all along and you didn't get any request from CIC, then that is a situation whereby you have to file a judicial review application within 15 days of receiving a refusal DM. You would have to prove to CIC that you did everything in your power to keep in touch, make sure they had latest address, etc etc.

Question : did you even set up a mail forwarding service from your old address to your new address? Even though you pay for the service for 6 months, I would have kept the service to last at least until the PR process is done. I would be too paranoid in CIC sending mail to my old address despite me setting up new address online.

What screech says made sense. All along CIC was contacting you at the old address. No doubt they sent the medical request and police certificate there. You didn't honour the request so they decided that you weren't interested anymore and made a decision based on the information they have in front of them; hence the probable negative DM screech alluded to. You said there was no medical or police certificate on the document checklist you used!!! There's only one general checklist for family class applications. Are you sure you're applying for Canada and not some other countries?

@ Screech....I know I was told over and over I cannot study because I need AIP but is it possible to do a Degree online or courses online from a Canadian University where the credits can go towards a Degree? After all no one needs a study permit to do online courses..... Will immigration find out and penalize me?

Also because I do not have implied status for Study ( didn't extend my study permit so I have an illegal status)
can I study for 6 months seeing CIC said u don't need a permit to study for 6 months? Then again I think for this case you have to have legal status... Don't know if u have any info on this.

It is allowed to work at home for example if u do online business...
Hi goldmoon... I am new in the forum but I also have problems with the study permit.

So... I was told by CIC several times that I was supposed to wait AIP before I could get a study permit BUT they are wrong. I went to MP office (I live in AB) and they made some calls and finally told me that: i have to apply outland, there are only 2 visa offices in US: LA and another one that I don´t remember that process the study permits.

Any ways... I would say that you call this offices and ask them. IT IS JUST MY PERSONAL OPINION but I really feel like offices out side Canada really help but here maybe because they just have too many people and too many application PLUS stike it is just very hard to get GOOD advise.

I really do not believe an on-line program is a problem (in the US universities will even tell you that they will not do anything for u to get a study permit) but If I were you I would just call this office in LA and ask, or send them an e-mail.

About your expired status I really don´t know because I asked for a extension of turist visa. I really do not know what does the IMPLIED STATUS gives me further than I will not be sent to my country. I do not get health benefits, I can not even change my status (applying inland).

If I were you... I would just call the LA office and ask for your specific case, study permit anyways gives you a SIN number and benefits so I DO believe is better to get it if you fulfill the requirements. Best wishes!!

Did they request it from you or did you send it in with your application? What about a police clearance - is that mandatory too for inland? They have not requested that either.
I have been in Canada for 4 years before submitting inland sponsorship and had to send police and medical. These are requirements. You won't be approved unless you are cleared with both . On the instructions guide it specifically states it is advisable to send them all with the application to avoid delayed processing.

Sierra if you submitted your application 2011 you should have been a permanent resident by now. I think you didn't read the instruction guide thoroughly. Maybe you need to hire a lawyer or get an immigration consultant. If CIC have your old address, and you did not send complete requirements, then you are basically waiting for nothing. They just send regular mails as correspondence or emails.

Hi Waitingsincedec, thks for your response. I will look at that LA option. What my fear is, is that how can someone apply outland for a study permit while waiting for AIP. When I applied for my permit, I just sent my info to Trinidad and Tobago and after a week it was sent back to me by Fedex. Now the embassy does not give u the actual study permit but a letter of approval ( stating your eligibility) which should be given to an Immigration Officer on entering Canada. There they will take that letter and interview you then issue you the actual Study Permit. So how possible would it be to get a permit if you have to be at the border in order to get it knowing we cannot leave Canada pending approval?

Not much to report on for most of us. Almost 9.5 months now without AIP. All I want to do is learn more freaking FRENCH, CIC! I might just faint when I finally get AIP, lol. There was a very official looking envelope in the mail yesterday, and my breath caught in my chest for just a moment. False alarm, it was just my husband's federal tax return. Still a nice envelope, but not THE envelope.

Hello

I know PAFSO strike doesn't affect inland applications directly.
But I think some of our information should be sent from our countries.
So I've been checking PAFSO facebook.
I just left a comment that
"please explain to applicants about union's future plan to compensate Canada's big loss due to this strike."
After that, I couldn't access.

I'm new for facebook.
So I can't be sure..
Am I kicked by the Union?

It certainly sounds as if they decided they didn't want to answer your question, and they didn't want you to pose another, so I would say, yes, they kicked you from their facebook page. I have heard others say this same thing when they didn't agree with PAFSO they were also kicked from that page.
