Thanks LoveYoung.
I just realized that I completely messed up the timeline when I replied Sarah's post, I wasn't in my right mind since I was too worried about the photos for the PR card, I finally got the photos redone and they had to do it a total of three times - I'm the queen of paranoia, so it was a bit of a stressful weekend.. Anyway here's my time line
Application sent - December 2009
First Stage Approval and Work Permit - September 2010
Second Stage - May 2011
Call from CIC Ottawa informing of Landing date (they were calling people due to the Canada Post lockout) - June 2011
Landing date - July 12, 2011
We applied through a lawyer - just wanted to be safe. Sent all the required documents including police certificate along with the application. Once I received the first stage approval CIC did not require more information from my end, but our lawyer was of the view that if I send them the RCMP checks it will make the process move faster (although CIC did not want this piece of information), so we sent the fingerprints as well. I honestly don't know if sending them made the background checks process faster, 'cos it took almost the same amount of time as mentioned in the website for me to get the second stage approval. In any case I'm so relieved that this whole waiting game is coming to an end.
Oh and when I received the final approval, the CIC call centre agent told me that the waiting time for Ottawa is upto 3 months, I got called, in almost a month, I guess it depends on the backlog at that particular time - just thought I'd mention it in case there are others who have Ottawa as their local office.
Thanks again for all the info and help!

Also, very nice to see new members coming in. Welcome inlandhelp and couver! Hope you feel at home and receive the help you need. If you both could give me the data on your application such as the date it was received, when it started processing, the day you got AIP, when you are landing, and what city. That would be great and I will add you to the chart. Just give the information that applies to you.
Hey Teriskier, yes e-Cas updates on the weekend. I once got one on Sunday before.
