Hi! I know the site says that the average processing time for inland application is 26 months and if I apply for a work permit, the work permit is granted in 4 months. I'll be applying soon and I'm not sure if I should choose inland or outland. For outland, the average processing for our country is 13 months but I've been hearing a lot of good news that PR is granted in just about 6 months. I don't know if that's the case for most people though but if that's the case, I'm not sure if inland is any beneficial even with the work permit.

Also, I understand that you can sponsor your parents 3 years after you become a PR, so if I apply inland, I could sponsor my parents in 2021/2022. But if I apply outland, then I could apply in 2019/2020. Is that correct? Thanks!

If your country's office says 13 months and people are getting it in 6, go for that! I applied inland and regret it loads! 14 months since I applied and heard nothing. I got my OWP 2 months after applying but it is taking longer to get now. If you apply inland, you are advised not to leave Canada while your application is processing. So that is something else to take into consideration.

Wow that's really taking forever. If I apply outland, where do I actually send my application? Also, I would soon request for another visa extension (this would be the 2nd time), I wish they grant it.

About inland application, you still can leave the country momentarily then come back, right?

You send the Outland application to the address listed on CIC's website. They will decide which visa office to forward it to.

Inland applicants are cautioned NOT to leave Canada during the process, because if they are refused re-entry, their application is jeopardized.

I heard that but would they do that when you get a work permit and get a multiple-entry visa to go with it? Is it really that risky?

Every re-entry into Canada - even with a multiple re-entry visa - is at the discretion of the CBSA officer at the border/airport. If you get someone that's had an off day... well, you get the picture.

Right now, Outland processing for many visa offices serving visa-exempt countries are picking up the pace. I'm from the US, and it only took 33 days after my application arrived at CPC-Mississauga for my sponsor to be approved - 6 days after AOR1! Some US PR applicants are seeing 2-4 months to CoPR. Someone this week from Columbia had CoPR/visa in hand within 2 1/2 months total.

Go Outland.
